Liam was unsure whether he should laugh or cry. Anna’s voice lowered even more as she said, “This one is scrambled eggs with shrimp… And this is egg soup…” Liam slammed his fork and said, “I feel that you scrambled a huge batch of eggs and separated them into six different plates!” “Eggs are good, they’re nutritious! These chives especially can improve your health!” Anna quickly placed some of each dish onto Liam’s plate in hopes that she could stuff his mouth. However, she did not expect that Liam’s expression would suddenly turn angry, which made her hands tremble in fear.

He ordered a full table of dishes, and though I could practically hear my wallet crying, I couldn’t deny that everything looked delicious. “Try it,” he said, his movements graceful as he began to eat. I didn’t bother with grace. The food was too good to worry about table manners. I took big bites, savoring the flavors. “Eat slower,” he said quietly. “It tastes better with bigger bites,” I replied, not slowing down. “It’s not good for your digestion,” he cautioned. “You eat to taste food. If you eat for your digestion, you might as well be eating porridge every day,” I shot back, earning a disapproving glare from him.

I asked, drawing out a chair and sitting down adjacent to her at the dining table. “Spinach and feta omelet made with free-range eggs, accompanied by smoked salmon on freshly baked sourdough bread with avocado slices and a sprinkle of sea salt,” Rebecca said with a small smile on her face as she kept on eating. There was this thing about every wealthy person—they loved to pronounce whatever they were eating in those long words to make you know every detail of what they ate. For us, as average people in society, we would rather call it by the shorter names.
