I'm No Heroine

I'm No Heroine

“Hello, Eleanor.” Max stood up as he stretched his hand to offer a handshake. Eleanor, a 17-year-old girl with deep-set blue eyes and a distinctive birth scar that was a shape of a heart under her lip stood there, letting Max’s hand suspended in the air, unentertained. Max slowly took his hand back. “I’m Detective Carter and this is Sergeant Martin,” he said. Eleanor didn’t let out a word and just glanced at them for a second before her eyes darted to the butler.

She Became The Devil's Legacy

She Became The Devil's Legacy

Evelyn looked around and suddenly realized something. "Baymont," Evelyn pointed to one of the storage compartments that held a glass jar, "is this your horn?" Inside the jar was a horn identical to the one on Baymont's head, but smaller, half the size of the one on Baymont's head. Baymont nodded, "Yes." Hearing the other's answer, Evelyn became more interested. She examined the horn, which was a collector's item, and asked, "Did Irzey pull it off?" Baymont nodded again, "Yes."

The Detective's Partner

The Detective's Partner

Detective Sullivan attempted his way over towards me, but barely passed Elizabeth when Captain Johnston’s voice was heard throughout the room. “Anderson! My office!” I take one last look at Elizabeth before sulking my way into his office. “Captain.” I say shaking his hand. “Detective Anderson. I didn’t expect to see you back in my office, let alone my squad room. How have you been?” His calm demeanor taking me by surprise. I half expected the same reaction I had gotten from Elizabeth. The way I left everything; I was amazed he wasn’t yelling down my throat.

Pampered Wedding: Marry Me, Mr. Langford

"Since you’ve come back, how about living here in the future? You look tired. Go have a rest!" Tina nodded. Tina was about to turn around and leave when a voice came from outside the gate of the orphanage. "Hello, is the caretaker here?" "I am the caretaker. May I ask you who you are?" The person outside the gate came in, wearing a pair of sunglasses. He said, "Hello, my surname is Wise. I'm a detective. Just call me Detective Wise!"

Teacher's Pet

And I admit, I’d felt ashamed to have thought otherwise. “Here.” Ethan placed a red velvet box in front of me when there was a break in their conversation as Eva argued about some doctor stuff with Luke “What is it?” I put down my spoon. “Open it and find out.” Ethan smiled as I took the small box in my hand and flipped the lid open. Earrings! And they were absolutely gorgeous. A single flower was set on a gold ring which dangled from a hook, the petals gold and silver and the flower had a pink pearl in the middle. This must have cost him a fortune! “Ethan I can—”

Very much enjoyed this story! Great dialogue, characters & storyline. Did not drag out with ridiculous plot twist or misogynistic action against the female lead. Plot was whimsical, but nicely done. No excessive, but stupid chapters. Kudos to a job well done! Thanks!

I couldn’t put this book down and read it in a day. It was compelling, the characters were well written, and I loved the FL (by the end). Absolutely deserving of 5 stars!! I’m going to read more by this author, for sure!!

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

The Perfume On His Collar

The Perfume On His Collar

But by the mailbox, half-buried in mud, something caught the light a small flash of silver. She went outside. The cold hit her instantly, seeping through her robe. She crouched near the mailbox and brushed the dirt aside. A keychain. Shaped like a compass. Its face cracked, the needle trembling though there was no wind. She turned it over. Etched on the back, barely visible: Rowen Construction. Her hands went cold. Detective Harris met her at the station that afternoon. He looked worse than yesterday his shirt wrinkled, eyes red-rimmed, and his coffee untouched.

Thank You! Miss President!

Waiting for a second, Elaine got a notification on her computer. She looks at it and clicks the photo that the detecti

Ashton explained. So that’s the story they were going with. Good to know. I’m guessing what’s in the syringe is really Adder’s venom. It makes sense. My pet is no meek girl. She's a fighter through and through. The officer looked at Adder. “Miss, can you tell me what happened?” he asked. Knowing that Adder was playing a part, I decided to do my part, rubbing her back. Okay, so I liked holding her close like this, but this is a show for now. “It’s alright, pet. Go ahead and tell the officer what happened.” I encouraged her.

So sad Adder & Mason's story has ended, but happy to know their are 2 epilogues coming! You've done a great job with posting new chapters on schedule.Too many authors do not & will leave readers hanging for weeks & even months without updates.Love that these 2 were smart, bright, kind, loyal, loving

Finally, a story where there is no drama between the main characters! I really loved how their story unfolded. The fact that they began as friends, and the best of friends even, gave their relationship a solid foundation. I know for sure I will be reading this book over and over. Kudos, Bryant!

Frequently Asked Questions

Ever since I stumbled upon 'I Can Understand Animals at Crime Scenes,' I’ve been fascinated by how it flips the detective genre on its head. The protagonist’s ability to communicate with animals isn’t just a quirky gimmick—it’s a game-changer. Birds perched on windowsills become eyewitnesses; stray cats recall suspicious footsteps. The story cleverly uses these silent observers to fill gaps in human testimony, like when a parrot repeats a killer’s muttered threat. It’s not about replacing forensics but adding layers to it.

The animals often notice details humans overlook—a dog’s unease around a 'friendly' suspect or ants avoiding a contaminated area. The narrative balances whimsy with logic, making their contributions feel plausible. What sticks with me is how the protagonist’s empathy for animals mirrors real investigative work: listening to the overlooked. It’s a reminder that solving cases sometimes means widening the circle of who—or what—we consider a witness.
