When she saw me inside, her expression soured. "Esmeray, what are you doing here?" she demanded. Before I could answer, Simon replied, "Ms. Esmeray is Mr. Stewart's esteemed guest." Estel shot me a glare and sneered. "Esmeray, don't you always pretend to be so virtuous? Now that there's good news for the family, you're running over faster than a rabbit." I pressed my lips together and responded coldly, "Who's to say this is good news?"

She’s too good at that. She grins at me. “Happy birthday, big brother.” I smile. “Thanks. So… what’s up with you and Emmett?” “We’re just talking, Damien.” “Really?” I raise an eyebrow, crossing my arms. “You sure about that?” She lets out an exasperated sigh. “I’m not twelve.” “Fine. But just so you know, I think Emmett’s shady as hell. Guy doesn’t even have social media. Who lives without social media these days?”

THE TWILIGHT COURT Maerwynn’s POV The city emerged like something out of a dream. It clung to the mountains, glowing softly with an otherworldly light. The buildings looked like crystal, impossibly tall and delicate, and the towers shimmered as though spun from the night sky itself. The light wasn’t from the sun—not the kind I knew. This place lived in twilight, where day and night held hands, casting the city in a perpetual, silvery glow. Light veins carved into mountaintops, glowing against the midnight sky. There was beauty here, haunting and fragile.

There were too many names, and yet they were necessary. Emmett stopped in front of them. “Today I thought I’d feel something different,” he said. “What?” I asked. “Closure.” I understood immediately. “And did you feel it?” He shook his head. “Not exactly. I felt peace, but not closure. As if everything were still open, only it’s no longer bleeding.” I looked at the names. “That’s the closest thing to closure I’ve ever known.” Emmett let out a brief laugh. “What a comfort, brother-in-law.”

The sun’s final glow spilled over the hills, lighting the terrace in soft amber, before twilight wrapped its arms around the valley. And as twilight kissed the valley, Emma and Killian knew—this wasn’t the end. This was everything they’d ever hoped for, finally at rest in one perfect view.

She scoffed. "Shî. That's not what I meant. Come on now, I might not be Harry Potter but I know you in and out." He refuted and she raised a brow at him. "You sure you're not Voldemort?" She teased. "No, I'm not. I'm Emmett Creed and Raven's monkey man. Whatever identity you give me baby." He said with all manner of seriousness that left her mesmerised. "Gosh! I love you, Emmett." She confessed with teary eyes.

Jan yielded at me. “Emma is a witch.” I babbled as I picked up my cup. I divulged from our last date together. I was watching Twilight: New Moon, and besides me was Frosty. Frosty was a handsome Samoyed young man. Emma and I adopted him from the Animal Shelter a few months after we got together. Frosty stays in my apartment with me because Emma is always traveling on business. Frosty is a snow-white little bud, with a cute little smile. The moment he met us, he made us his family.

By Tuesday afternoon, Manatee High felt louder than usual. Maybe it was the way everyone buzzed with the kind of energy that meant a break was close. The long weekend was coming, and most people already had plans. Emma didn’t—at least not yet. The bell rang for lunch, and Emma followed the usual crowd to the cafeteria. She spotted Connor sitting at their usual table with Ethan, Liam, and Chelsea. Ethan was talking fast, excitement written all over his face, while Connor laughed at something Chelsea said.

I think the Emmet name is cute, reminded me of a chipmunk. Emmet and I talked so well and it was really nice. We knew nothing about each other except for our names, but we talked before and after my therapy sessions. Emmet was my cry towel when ever the therapy session hit an emotional spot. He was always smiling and his smile was a very contagious one. Speaking of contagious, I found myself wearing a smile as bright as his. I wish I had his dimples to complete the look. "I'm going to be alone and new there." I finally broke the awkward silence and stared at my grey sweatpants.

“He said him and Tiffany’s parents will come by tomorrow to see the babies. Aunty Josie and Aunty Cassie are flying in, in the morning too.” “That’s wonderful” she whispers before falling asleep. Emmett kisses her forehead before placing a kiss on each of the baby’s heads and tiptoes out of the room to the cafeteria to get something to eat. “Twins, a boy and a girl” he whispers to himself, turning back to look at the babies again before shutting the door. The beaming smile never leaving his face. Once outside the door; Emmett runs into Cheryl, bringing Jonathon and Zachary in to see Simone. “Simone’s asleep” he whispers shutting the door behind him.
