Where?” Elira lifted her gaze to the far side of the observatory, where a small flame-creature—no bigger than a fox—was curled in the corner. Its body shimmered in deep gold, but its eyes… “They’re his,” Elira said softly. “The same eyes he had when he was alive.” The little fox-thing watched her without blinking, its tail curling in slow arcs. Then, as if sensing it was being spoken of, it flickered and dissolved into sparks that drifted upward and were gone.

I managed to take the bottle out of my water bottle. “Here.. Drink some water first.” I urged her, forcibly pulling her away from me. She didn’t grab the bottle, making me hold the bottle for her. She drank the water greedily. What exactly was wrong with her? All these screams, not helping Zack, going against him, helping Evan and that rival team’s captain…. For a second, I thought that Evelyn had been possessed, but that was just an absurd thought…. “Feeling better now?” I asked her when she stopped drinking and moved her face away.

Eve turned sharply, her body tensed for a fight. Out of respect for her, Kendalf, too, walked into the forest out of Caitlin’s sight before shape-shifting and loping away toward the ruins of Zendedari’s old home. The blight was a monstrous creature mostly made of bones and skeletons. They were armed with swords that could kill a human at one slay, their head was a skull and it was covered with a brown mask. They screeched as they approached the four supernatural who were attempting to defend their town.
