Olivia chuckled, “Now I see why you're Mia’s mate. She said the same thing to me earlier, it’s disgusting.” I frowned, “You saw Mia? Where?” “Her uncle’s house. I pretended to be a pathetic girl in search of my way and I deceived her while her mom was smuggled away from her,” Olivia laughed. I frowned, “It’s not funny, Livvy, what the hell happened to you?” A dark look clouded Olivia’s eyes as she glared at me. It seemed like I couldn't recognize who she was at that moment. “I died, Javier, that's what happened to me.”

“You’ll smudge it.” Olivia sighed. She tried to stay calm, to still her trembling fingers. She looked at Rea through the mirror. “I’m sorry. I just… It’s just strange, getting ready for a party after…” She didn’t finish the sentence. She still couldn’t bring herself to say the words. Rea’s hands stilled briefly, her expression unreadable, as she held Olivia’s gaze through her reflection on the mirror. “I understand, Cara. But the world doesn’t stop for the dead, Olivia. Especially not in our world.”

Olivia was standing before me. "Darling are you done?". I staggered back and fell into the bathtub. "Olivia", I muttered. She looked at me with a confused look on her face. "Yes? Why do you look surprised?". This had to be a trick by the witch. Someone was playing with me there. Olivia, my mate had died in my arms with our baby in her belly, a thousand years ago. I killed her. I sank my teeth in my flesh and ended her life.

“She disappeared, probably went to join Nester’s undead army, but she wouldn’t be back for long. I’m sure of that.” The world blurs around me. If not for Olivia’s hand propping me up I would be on the floor already. The Roanna I know, the one who hurt me, is dead. Is it possible to feel free and more trapped at the same time? “We need silver.” I say through the lump in my throat. “We need her gone for good.” “And she will be.” Olivia vows. “All this will be over soon because…” She looks at all of us, bravery in her features. “Because I’m going to talk to Everest, tonight.”

She gazed down into her hand at the little white horse figurine she had absent-mindedly picked up. Eli had named him Spirit; it was his favorite. She gripped it tightly in her hand. The horrible question hung in her head. What if they didn’t get Eli back? Oh god, what if Eli never came home? How did parents ever survive the death of a child? The thought squeezed her heart so tight she could scarcely breathe. She knew she was at the edge of bitter despair; any moment now, she would fall over the edge.

And if that meant Sophie had to die, then that was to be. I already had another soul waiting in the wings. Yet, it wasn't time for her to come back. Olivia: her death was a necessary component that only added fuel to my Phase I. It would be the same fuel that would also see her rise again in a new way, that would replace her old one, and only strength her resolve. However, her resolve to keep going, despite the fact she had died, was admirable. Despite what had happened. Even though Kaitlyn had changed fate and killed her out of revenge.

“Who was at the crash scene with you?” Victor remained silent. ⸻ Too silent. ⸻ Then suddenly— Daniel’s phone vibrated again. He answered quickly before his face lost color completely. ⸻ “Aaron…” A pause. ⸻ “Olivia is dead.” ⸻ Silence detonated across the room. ⸻ Elara stared blankly. Olivia looked upon the sky, kept silent for a well and moved to Anthony. “What did you say to her?” Anthony who just woke up from his trance asked, helped her into the car, reversed the car and drove away from the scene.
