JACKSON POV I roll my shoulders. After working out for three hours, Jason and I finally felt a little bit better. We both use exercise as stress relief typically. Something our parents taught us. I smile to myself, thinking about the time mom out lifted dad. Dad, Jason, and I had been down in the gym pumping for a competition dad was going to enter when mom had come in. Jason had made a comment about how mom could never lift like dad. We were nine at the time and a little pig-headed. Mom had laughed, shoved dad out of the way, and benched his max weight.

"Come on! One more minute! Punch faster...faster!" my trainer exclaimed. I started punching the punching bag faster and faster, my muscles were burning with the exercise I had done. I swivelled and then kicked the punching bag on the marked spot… which was quite high today.

I gripped the railing harder, cheeks flaming. Of all the times for the kid to turn into a tiny Sherlock. "I'm fine, sweetie! Just... Mommy's legs are a little grumpy today. I had a little exercise last night. The kind that makes everything feel wobbly afterward." Angel squinted suspiciously. "A little?! That looks like you exercised too much that your leg hurts." "You are right, sweetie. It was super intense. Legs get jelly after. See? Penguin mode activated." I demonstrated with an exaggerated walk to ease the tension.

“Well, you probably strain yourself when you were swimming in the river.” “Oh, how so?” “Well, I mean when your body is in a panic when you’re in that freezing water. So, you use every ounces of your muscles and energy to stay alive. Your legs were probably using muscles they haven’t used in a long time, so that’s probably why you’re aching.” “Odd,” said Joshua. “Do you exercise on a daily basis?” asked the older paramedic. “Yes. Yes, I do. Nearly every day. I’m pretty fit.”

“What am I doing? What do you think?” Jeanette shook her head. “Nope. No, Damon, that’s off-limits! You’re still recovering! You can’t do these, uh, ‘strenuous exercises’ in this state. It’ll just make your injuries worse.” Damon smiled even harder. “Strenuous exercises, you say? How strenuous, exactly?”

Which is rather difficult as he watches me repeatedly squirming in my chair next to him in meetings. “Is something wrong, Nora? You look uncomfortable?” He whispers at one point, leaning in while the others are busy discussing one point of the proposal. I freeze and slowly turn to look at him. “I, uh… I went to the gym.” I laugh awkwardly, blurting out the first thing that comes into my head. “Spin class. You know, the bikes, and the seats aren’t… great.” He chuckles as he keeps his eyes on the table. “Maybe you should find a different way of exercising then. Watching you squirm isn’t ideal while I’m trying to focus, you know.”

I don’t want to get too comfortable with that thought though. *We need to find that stream,* Laney whines, making our nose wiggle again. “Ah-choo,” I sneeze. “I’d offer you a hanky but… no pockets,” Harley jests. I look up to see him tapping his belly. And of course, there’s absolutely no movement. No pudgy spots on his body whatsoever. It just isn’t fair. No matter how many crunches I do, any kind of repetitive exercise, I still have a little jiggle in my belly. My boobs are still too big and hang lower than I’d like.

Joe Bandit P.O.V Working out in the gym, and doing other active activities always helped me destress. Whether I’m playing football or going for a run, because I was nervous for an upcoming game, or couldn’t sleep because of the envelopes Chasity’s father sends. I always work out to destress. If there is to much chaos going on and stuck in my mind, how can I function around others? Just like how a person plays Bejeweled because that’s their way of distressing. Working out is like that for me.

That was easy, it wasn't really stressful. After doing three hundred and forty-five counts of jogging, I felt strong pains in my abdomen. I took back my words, it is fucking stressful. Mr Harrison was still jogging, I gave him a thumbs up and sat on my mat. I wondered how I went that long. Mr. Harrison called me up, forcing me to do more lounges, bridges, hydrants, and other exercises. He was blunt and strict all through. There were times when he'd tell me to bend, sometimes he held my waist. His hands were firm and hard too, I wished I could get more of those touches and grips.
