Hot water spilled onto her hand, instantly turning it red. Cameron rushed in and held her in his arms, his face full of disappointment. "Hazel, when did you become so vicious? I know you don't like Winona, but how could you hurt her? You've let me down!" Cameron did not glance at me again and left with her in his arms. "I didn't!" My tears fell involuntarily. I thought, 'Cameron, there are security cameras! Look at the security footage! Forget it, I don't want to explain myself anymore.'

Explode. The canyon echoed with the rhythmic, deafening destruction of the ancient vanguard obliterating the front ranks of the nightmare. The valley floor was quickly covered in a thick layer of crushed gray gravel, the remnants of a hundred feral entities erased from existence in a matter of minutes. A mile back, standing on a high, safe ledge overlooking the carnage, the leader of the blood-born watched the slaughter.

"Brother Jose? Brother Jose, is that really you?" I flinched. My head turned quickly, my neck feeling stiff. There stood Yael, catching his breath. His eyes were puffy, his hair clung wet to his forehead, and the look on his face was full of an anxiety that made my chest feel tight. Seeing him here, in the middle of my destruction, made me feel even smaller. This cheerful younger brother of mine was seeing me in my lowest condition—a brother who had failed completely.

I feel like an asshole when I quickly send a message to Alpha Marco: “I got the blood, but there's an unknown watching the house. Maybe a renegade. I couldn't see, but the rotten smell is suggestive.” Alfa Marco replies almost immediately: “Go back now. If it's a renegade, that changes things and could be dangerous.”

What the hell happened?”

Sammy gives Johno a good once-over, “I would serve you poison, but I think I will get fired.” But Josh is not faced at all and continues to talk as if nothing of last night happened, “I have been sending you messages, Pumpkin.” “My phone is broken; I guess it is from your messages.” “Please sit down and have a drink with us.” Josh insists. “I don’t associate with manwhores.” I huff at him. “I’d rather have hell freeze over.” Sammy steps closer with the tray of shooters, “Now you have wasted eight minutes. What would the Chippendales like to drink?” She pauses for a brief moment and have a look at the other tables, “I see that table of ladies staring; maybe you should join them.”

The air, which used to be fresh with the fragrance of nature's wonders, was thick with the groans of dying soldiers and the stench of their blood. Blaze couldn’t help but shudder when he noticed the massacre. A nightmare in which he stood amongst corpses, blood dripping from his body, came to mind. "Clean the mess as soon as possible," he exclaimed as he walked into the council office, anxious. The soldiers busied themselves with cleaning up the mess while Dario took Gustav into the dungeon.
