I just shook my head at him and smiled. Then I walked out of that room and started walking upstairs. I loved how these steps are wide. There isn't much chance of missing a step and falling. That will be a load off my mind when my belly gets huge, and I can't see my feet anymore. I got to the top of the stairs and noticed that there is a built-in baby gate, on hinges, at the top of the stairs. I said, "You really did think of everything." He said, "The nurseries aren't decorated yet." I said, "That's fine. I would really like to do that, anyway. How many bedrooms are there?" He said, "We have four bedrooms upstairs and there are another four in the basement." I said, "There is a basement?" He

"But the bedroom is upstairs so let's go." I roll my eyes at his bossyness. "We need to clean those wounds first so how about you tell me where the bathroom is?" He glances at me. "Well it's also upstairs. Come."he says. We barely make it through the stairs, him being the heavy pig that he is I almost give up halfway, but thankfully his stubborness overcomes my lack of willpower and in ten minutes he's sitting on the toilet lid in his bathroom. It's very pretty; in fact all of it is and it makes me wonder what kind of job his parents have. They're probably doctors or something.

The hallway was lined with family portraits, generations of elegant people staring down from gilded frames. "You know," he said with a grin, "Mother really likes you. No guest has ever been allowed to stay on the second floor before." "Oh, I didn't realize there was a hierarchy." "There is. Second floor is for my parents and grandfather. Me and my siblings all stay on the third floor. Even when we were kids, we weren't allowed up here unless summoned." He laughed. "So the fact that you're getting a room here? That's basically Mother adopting you as her daughter."

After three months away, I was finally home. I asked the house's male housekeeper, Jacob Miller, to give me a hand carrying my luggage upstairs. Jacob hoisted the suitcase but had barely taken a few steps when—bang—the luggage crashed to the floor. He clutched his wrist, wincing in pain. The noise startled the three women on the sofa. They jumped up and rushed toward him, surrounding him with frantic questions, fussing as if he were about to shatter. They scrambled for ointment, massaging his wrist with careful fingers, treating him like fragile porcelain.

Her and her sisters got the whole second floor and her parents had the third to themselves. I guess they did well for themselves. It was a lovely house. The decor was simple, and things looked worn and used. Lived in, but neat, not messy. To my shock this also applied to Marilyn's room. "Here it is," she said, closing the door behind us and doing a little twirl, "pretty nice, huh?"

From the window, one could see the porch has a nice small fence around it. Bryce and Angela kept looking out the window until they heard Martin unlock the door which was on their left. "Home sweet home," Martin said and walked in. Bryce and Angela followed him in. They found themselves in another small space. Right in front of them is a spiral staircase that connects to an upper floor. Right in from of them, beneath the upper floor is the living room. Bryce walked into the living room and scanned the place. Angela smiled, admiring the place.

That is the reason why there are only five people upstairs. Of course, they all wanted to find the second floor, but because they also respect the privacy of Liam's family, even though they haven't lived in that house for a long time, they still need it. After all, this is the house where Liam and his siblings were born, grew up, and became aware of their surroundings.
