I look at him and shake my head before I start laughing softly in disbelief. “She has started a war she can’t win. A war with the shifters means annihilation, and she knows this. Do you have the last known location for her?” I ask and he clicks on something and a map is now being shown with a red circle around the area. He points to it. It’s an abandoned fishing village by the Artic Ocean. I look at Fenrir and give him a nod, and his eyes glaze over.

The circular pressure-door at the end of the Archive didn't just lead to another hallway; it opened into the Central Logic-Hub, a spherical chamber where the gravity was non-existent and the walls were made of millions of flickering, silver fiber-optic cables. Fenris stood at the center of the sphere, suspended in mid-air by a harness of dark energy. He looked different than he had at the Spire—his skin was a translucent, sickly grey, and his eyes were no longer silver, but a hollow, light-eating black that seemed to pull the very illumination from the room.
