Sighing, I quickly closed my door, pushing my back against it and closing my eyes for one second. Then I pushed off it and went to get myself ready. By the time I reached downstairs, I came to an abrupt stop. Galatia was standing at balcony at the edge of the patio, facing the night sky, the light from the house bouncing off his back. He looked… what was the right word to use… striking. He hadn’t seen me yet. He stood, his hands braced against the banister rail, his forearms corded with ridges of muscle as he stared out into the night sky.

Selene screamed out and I was grateful for her help. Every time I opened my eyes all I could see was Azael’s face looming over mine. But I also caught a glimpse of Gideon, the guy looked like he was made of lava, and he had my flames wrapped around his chard hands, but his skin was all cracked. Within the cracks, it looked like lava flowing beneath his skin.

Dean replied, placing me even further behind him, but that gesture ended up having the opposite effect, and Gideon looked in my direction. "And this little she-wolf would be..." he questioned, and my body tensed, every muscle locked as my fingers gripped the fabric of Dean's suit tighter. He, very gently, covered my hand with his. I took a step to the side, and when Gideon's eyes met mine, he dropped the glass, shattering the crystal and spilling the amber-colored, woody-scented drink all over the floor.
