Romans & histoires Gifts Of The Magi

“Your realm is beautiful.” She gave the faintest smile. “As is yours, I hear.” I didn’t answer that. Just stepped aside as Caelora, Lira, and Rhaenan disembarked behind us. Our guards stayed back with the carriages, where the woven baskets and enchanted scrolls and barrels of wine were being carefully unloaded. The gifts. Tributes to smooth what would undoubtedly become a very political few days.

Vincent and Elijah appear, standing in the doorway, scanning my room, which is messy from torn wrapping paper. “The royal wolves seem to have started these silly traditions,” Elijah mutters, half complaining. “But it must be entertaining for Queen Delilah, my king. I think it’s good that the royal wolves are greeting her before the coronation,” Vincent responds. “If you think this could harm me,” I pause, “I will return them, my king. It’s hard, to be honest, because the gifts are lovely and luxurious. Perfume, jewelry, bags, shoes, and someone even sent a home theater system.

“And an apology, of sorts.“ I met Mikael’s eyes and saw no hints of lies in them. It was… surprising. I looked away thoughtfully. He was… apologizing? No, I corrected myself, glancing at Acker briefly. They BOTH were. My heart twinged. Could I accept more gifts tying me to them? Remembering Magda’s words, I stopped myself from saying any words of refusal. Perhaps I could wait and see what it was first before coming to a conclusion. Perhaps… they weren’t so bad after all. “Oh…” I breathed, waiting to see what it was they would give me. I expected to see a box of clothes and jewelry or something similar. Given the amount of that I had been gifted by Mikael especially, I doubted it would be any

At noon, a Hundred-Year Ice Lotus from the Snowpeak Mountains arrived. "A holy relic for healing female wolves. The Alpha said you would like it." I refused it. In the afternoon, it was Elven Berries from the Old Continent. At night, a priceless bottle of Stardust Wine. Each gift was rarer and more expensive than the last. I rejected every single one. This went on for a week. Cade acted like a madman, sending a flood of treasures as if they could buy my forgiveness. On the seventh day, he came himself.

Ashes marked my cheeks as a symbol of the blessings I had recieved that night. I stood at the center of my pack — exactly where I belonged. --- When the noise softened, my parents called me inside. My mother held a small parchment. On it, two intertwined crowns wrapped in climbing vines. “A gift” she said in a soft voice. “It represents the balance between power and wisdom. Between strength and restraint.” “And sacrifice,” my father added. The vines were elegant. The thorns subtle. “I love it,” I said. My mother’s smile was warm. She stepped closer, her fingers brushing lightly over my chest.

Three years, and Gavin was still the same arrogant, self-obsessed jerk. I didn't say a word. He had no clue I was here to take his company. Right after he swaggered inside, a janitor jogged over and grabbed the bag from me. "Sorry, Ms. Valencia—I didn't mean to be late." She'd asked me to bring bottles for some summit promo—trade enough, win a limited-edition rocket for her grandson. When she saw the haul, her face lit up. "Thank you! You just made his dream come true."

You can't get the betrothal dropped and still hoard his gifts like some petty thief. I stared her down. Perfect match for Samzor. "It's not like I refused to return anything. Gifts aren't loans. I gave just as much back. So who's calling it theft?" Her smile wobbled, then snapped back like elastic. "Oh, you CLAIM you gave just as much back? Cool. Show the proof." I swallowed the urge to gag. Not worth it. Gifts between promised wolves aren't receipts—they're private. Sacred. Who the hell keeps score like a bargain-bin trader?

Ava tried to join in, saying something about how eighteen was such a big year, but every time she spoke Mum’s shoulders went tight, like someone had yanked a string on her back. I watched it all, feeling that twist in my chest again. Like I was sitting in the audience watching a play where everyone else knew the script except me. Then the gifts started. Saphira got this pretty silver necklace that looked exactly like the kind Mum always wore, plus a long letter in Mum’s handwriting that made Saphira’s eyes go shiny when she read the first line. Dad gave both of us our first cars and we loved it. Mom also handed her the latest iPhone in her favorite color and gave me white one, guess she didn

Mathew’s pov Everyone in our world knows how a gifting ceremony works. It’s all about bestowing blessings, but the tradition comes with strict rules. The celebrant, in this case, a she wolf receives gifts from a chosen list of invited guests, specifically mated couples as her peers, done few weeks before her mating ceremony. During the ceremony, male wolves gather to spend time with the groom to be, offering gifts to honor the upcoming mating ceremony, while she wolves gather with the bride to be to share wisdom and present their own offerings. It is widely believed that these gifts carry powerful blessings for the couple's future bond.

They knew that none of these gifts could touch Charlie’s heart at all. After that, Liam gave Charlie a jade carving of Plutus. In his words, Plutus was the god of wealth. Therefore, he would be able to grant Charlie safety and wealth. Charlie smiled and thanked Liam before accepting the gift. However, Charlie was still impervious to all of these gifts. Finally, it was Albert’s turn. He took out a beautifully packed gift box before handing it over to Charlie as he said seriously, “Master Wade, this is a little token of my appreciation.”
