There were few things inside, and the color scheme was bland and a little dark – just like his boring character and astute personality. He took out his map again and pointed to the Val Village. It was surrounded with camps of orcs. We might have to camp outside at this place. Just like the last place we went, it was also located at the foot of the mountain where dense energy accumulated, just like devils like them.

None of them answer me, and I leave them to this small peace. It’s evening again before we stop. This time at an old summer camp in Moon Valley pack lands. That means less busy work that doesn’t require cooking, so I’m mostly left chained in a dark room. I’m only let out to use the bathroom quickly after dinner and wash up the dishes.

UNEXPECTED COMPANY The next major wrinkle in our plans came as we stepped out into the clearing overlooking the bend in the river, when I realized that our site was already occupied. In this part of the national park, there aren't any designated camping spots, nothing you can book or reserve; there are just some spots that have been frequently used by campers over the years because they check all the right boxes in terms of scenery and utility. The one I had in mind, the one my friends and I always used, was on a bluff on the West bank of the river, right at the bend. It had some flat ground, perfect for multiple tents, and a panoramic view of the river.

In a closed-off quad, hidden under a dense canopy of trees, a campground glistens under the orange lights of fluorescent bulbs. Strewn about on dried out branches, and erected beams made from thick bamboo. They are reinforced by rocks and anchors of smaller wood nailed around their legs. The canopy of thick trees provide cover, and the remote location ensures no locals intervene. Though the noise from the three strategically placed generators leave much to fear in such a place.

The boys chatted excitedly in between George directing me to a camp site. We finally got to the site. It appeared to be a crater of some sort but with gentle slopes. What was the most noticeable of everything was the green grass that was just about everywhere, except the slopes. Near the slopes was about thirty pine cabins, that stood in lines of two about ten meters apart, in semi circles. George showed me where was the best spot to drive down the slope so that I can park between the two lines at the far end. I got out of the car and looked the place over. In the centre of it all was a massive fire pit, with an enormous pile of wood next to it.

"Hey! Are you all sleeping?" Mr Alberty, the Art teacher from Merganzel public school and the one among the two teachers in charge of our camp asks through the microphone, making everyone stir in their seats. "C'mon, wake up all of you. We'll be at Hondbill National Park in five minutes. Hey there! Wake the one sleeping beside you." There was nobody beside me. Adonis was still in the back with the dudes. "Guys, before we reach there, I'd like to give you a few quick instructions although I'm sure you've been instructed enough from your schools," Mr Alberty clears his throat when everyone finally stirs awake.

Grabbing our gear, we use an artificial masking scent so they couldn’t use their heightened sense of smell against us. Dressed in dark camouflaged clothes, we headed towards the Goblin camp. When we could see and hear them clearly, we climbed up into the tallest tree we could find and observed what happened below.

"I hope you weren't frightened by those obsessive fans. Why don't you go back to the tent and rest? It's dark anyway, so there's nothing to see." The others were just gathered together and chatting while playing games. It was alright to not participate. "Then I'll go back first." Gabriella set down her beer bottle and bade goodnight to the tour guide before returning to her tent. About a dozen tents were scattered around the campsite. Gabriella and Colene's tents were a bit further from the bonfire and deeper into the woods. Of course, two other tents were even further than theirs. Gael moves to the side of me and Hakeem uncovers my eyes. I have to blink a few times before my eyes adjust and I can process what’s in front of me. We are standing in a clearing in the middle of the woods. In front of us is a huge tent, lit up with string lights and lanterns. The tent is made for glamping, huge, filled with a large, California King sized bed, a big table laden with fruits, bread, and cheeses, and a vast area rug on the ground covered by pillows. “What is this for?” I ask, excited by my mates’ surprise for me.
