Arrgghhh ! But truth to be told seeing my father lying, useless, and unable to move broke me into pieces. I never wanted to see him this way. He may never be my hero like for other kids their father is. However, he neither was evil too. He just was...MY FATHER....with immense love for me but without the courage to express it. I hate him... He seems sober but he really was a bit tipsy.

“You were not a coward and you did not let those women die. It wasn't like you helped them kill those women. You tried to stop them and they hurt you. You were young and you were afraid. You were human. That affliction happens to the best of us sometimes and we can't do anything about it.” “So being human is an affliction?” He teases her with a smile, trying to lighten the mood and she chuckles. “Of course it is!” But then she sobers up, turning serious again. “Seriously though, you didn't let them. You did eventually stop them, so you are a hero. The blood of those women before, when you were a child, that isn't on your hands, so quit trying to make out like it is.” “You don't understand-”

“You did what mattered.” He laughed once dry and humorless. “I didn’t save him. We were both idiots.” “You saved him. You were the one who kept going after the footprints, who called in the teams. You didn’t give up.” My voice got steadier under the memory. “You… you were brave.” He looked at me then, and the look stopped me cold. His face had that dangerous softness in it again, dangerous because it could carve me open if I let it. “I was stupid,” he said. “Brave looks better on other people. On heroes.”

“I don’t even know what I’m sorry for.” This wasn’t how she imagined seeing him again. Not caged. Not like this. He had fought for her. An experiment is something so small and you are anything but small in this world." My eyes stare into Declan's shining ones as I take his hand in mine. "Heroes aren't perfect, they have flaws too but that doesn't mean they aren't remarkable."

He said. "You're my hero Hunter, no matter how much you deny it. You saved me. You've been doing that since the beginning." I whispered before yawning softly. I was extremely tired. A day spent talking to Gina, avoiding Miles, dancing like my life depended on it and getting accosted by Tom would do that to anyone. It was definitely because of that I didn't hear him tell me.
