Which is why I haven’t been using it ever since I started writing 1001 Dark Tales. Yes, I could have written it quicker, but 1001 Dark Tales are dark romance tales. I’m not ashamed of anything I write, but I would rather not act out the scenes with three males who I don’t even know their names or what they look like. I push those thoughts away as I put the quill down and grabbed my other manuscripts, leafing through them. Each of them was only partly done and would benefit from using the quill on them. Before I could pull one out, though, I heard a knock at my door.

The deep, wrenching pain that made me wish for death was fading, yet the sharp stabs in my bones were as cruel as ever. I felt like the Little Mermaid, fresh on her new legs, each step a dance on blades. Was that what being alive felt like? Death seemed better. That was what I thought until the bleeding started, a faint seep from my wounds. Francis pulled away, fixing the chaos of the bed. "You'll see," I whispered. "See what?" "The real me." I threw the covers off and got up, my legs barely holding me. However, I made it to the door, one shaky step at a time.

As the last remnants of the colossal beast dissolved into the inky void from which it had come, a suffocating darkness descended upon the battlefield. The air crackled with malevolence, a storm of shadows coalescing as Drax's fury manifested. Tendrils of dark energy lashed out, snaking across the ground like serpents, seeking to ensnare the trio who had dared to oppose him. Xienma, still aglow with the radiant energy of the Water Stone, felt a chill creep into her bones as the shadows writhed and twisted. “Cassie! Xavier!” she called, her voice strained as she struggled against the oppressive weight of the darkness.

Each page looked like it had been soaked in shadows, the ink melding with the very fabric of the paper. “This,” Petra said with a flourish, “is the *Tome of Deeds*.” Her fingers slid delicately over the edges of the book as she opened it, revealing intricate sketches and cryptic writings that seemed alive with their own purpose. “Within these pages lies every secret about the world’s hidden side,” she continued, her voice dropping to a whisper as if the Darklord himself might hear.

Faith and the wolf stood at the edge of the deep. Faith held onto Killian’s neck, and he stood like a pillar of stone beside her. Together, they pushed a final, crushing wave of energy into the black pool. The Dark Wolf let out one last, tormenting scream as it was completely pulled down into the depths of the earth. The black liquid followed, drained away into a prison so deep that no king or scientist would ever find it again. The Archive went silent.

Still, the way he said it, like the words made me feel small. “Tell me, Snow,” he pressed, voice dipping lower. “What kind of books do you read?” My stomach dropped and panic fluttered in my chest. If he knew, if he even suspected. The facade I’d built so carefully for my parents would crumble to dust. He couldn’t know that behind closed doors, I consumed more dark romance and filth than any good girl should. The sound of the front door swinging open snapped the moment in half. I blinked, tearing my gaze away just in time to see my dad stride in. Relief flooded me so fast my knees almost buckled.

He heads to the mall’s food court area to unpack the items and check out the plots as well. The series is a medley of genre set in a dystopic time. But to my surprise, my line of vision was directed to a pair of unfamiliar pitch black eyes, the darkest shade of black I've ever seen in my whole life.
