I could tell he was a werewolf. He returned a few minutes later and pulled out a gun from his pocket , shooting the old man in his chest. I froze, my eyes wide as I turned to the dead man beside me. “Come with me” he returned the gun to his pocket and spoke like nothing happened. I followed him, still reeling from the shock. The maids of the house passed by me without staring, treating me like a ghost. As if seeing something like this wasn't a surprise.

And when he spoke again, his voice carried command that none of them understood but all of them felt. “Do not attack until father arrives.” Aurelia’s heartbeat stopped for one terrifying second. Because no one questioned the sentence. Not even Victor. Not even Clara. Not even the child. But the real horror came one second later— when the sealed upper door opened by itself, and slow footsteps entered the chamber from above. A strong chapter hook works best when it resolves one shock, then immediately introduces a larger threat, keeping tension moving forward instead of repeating the same beat.

The centipede-like scar on his face was very frightening. Harvey and Lauren were so terrified that they took a few steps back. "Wh-What do you want?"

He asked politely as he looked from me to Tasha for approval. “ Why not? The more, the merrier.” Tasha replied and Arnold stepped in to walk beside us, making me the middle man. “Alright so it's time for some midnight stories from dear Arnold, anything you have for us Arnold?” Tasha asked Arnold, who smiled. He was obviously pleased with her words. “Hm… I could share my experience killing the strange creatures that live here. Okay, what is your opinion of the scariest and strangest creature?” Arnold asked as he folded his arms.

“You don't have to be scared of me!” One of the parents snarled. “Pah! We were never scared of you in the first place. We—” “Of course, the dead wouldn't be scared of me!” “What did you say?” The clamoring parent thought he had heard wrong. Kiran’s gaze grew razor-sharp. “Why would you be scared of anything when you’re dead?” Whoosh! The next instant, a silver needle shot out from his hand, penetrating the parent’s head and sending blood gushing out from between his eyebrows.
