The cabin was made up of bamboo, looking exactly the way I imagined it would be. There were two windows on either side of the door, to my surprise there was a cupola on the cabin’s roof. The cabin was surrounded by trees on all the sides, which looked like the ones we come across in movies. It almost looked like, they were herding us in. The driver walked in front of me. I stopped, making him stop too. He immediately looked back. “You guys wanna kill me, right?” I breathed out, my voice shaking with fear. He simply watched me. I looked down at the dark road and then back at him. I turned— Walking straight into a man who was now standing behind me.

By nightfall, Raverine and I were done making sure the cabin was safe from ambush. Even with cyberattacks from our devices, Raverine always tries to close all the loopholes he could possibly close. It was as if Raverine moved his investigation room in this cabin within a few hours. If you look at the cabin from afar outside, the cabin doesn’t look occupied since the lights weren’t able to illuminate past the dimmed windows and doors. It was just a haunted cabin like when we came here.

I'm not one for horror movies, but I've watched a few in my day. They all start out at a backwoods cabin where the roof has curling shingles and water drips through in various parts. The cabin was now beyond a humble abode, to me the brown wooden structure tarnished with white and black from failed attempts to revive its derelict appearance with paint, resembled those haunted cabins in the woods in horror movies and those cabins were infamous for many things- none of which are pleasant. I felt like I was walking into some deformed serial killer's lair or into a domain for creatures of the night and supernatural entities; ghosts, vampires and wicked witches with an appetite for human flesh.

We reached a small cabin tucked deep into the forest, its silhouette barely visible against the night.
