] A hotline number was included. I looked at the post, and a bold idea came into my mind. Would this be a trap or a solution? Anyway, it would not harm me if I just called anonymously, right? I picked up the phone and dialed the number. After three rings, there was a click indicating it was received, but followed by silence. I almost changed my mind and hung up, but a second later, I heard a deep, masculine voice with slight irritation. "Who is this?" For some reason, just the sound of his voice made me feel hot.

It may be a blessing ni disguise that I can actually make a revenge on those very mean people. Just as I was thinking of those people, my phone suddenly rang. I got the phone out of my bag thinking it must be Provi. However, I noticed it was an unregistered number. I don;t usually like talking to strangers and I don't like this kind of prank from my friends. I pressed the END CALL button. After placing the phone on the table top, it rang again. At the back of my mind, if this person thinks that it's important, he or she should send me a message. Beeeep. Pick up the good da** call!

Everyone said we were a perfect match, like a blade and its sheath. We had exchanged rings. The wedding was set for early spring the following year. Everything should have gone smoothly. Yet, staring at the bright “Cancel” button on the screen, I suddenly remembered his words. “A prank.” An overwhelming sense of exhaustion crawled up from my bones. I suddenly felt tired.

"Stop it guys, it's not funny anymore. I dislike being pranked!" The warning did not scare whoever was on the other line because he laughed evilly and I imagined him to have red horns on both sides of his head. I shook the thought out of my head and hung up. Who did he think he was to be pranking me with stupid calls? He better not call me back. Suddenly, my phone started ringing in my hand again and it was that same unknown caller ID. I took the call with a bile rising up my throat. "What do you want?!" I growled.

Cillian, rubbing his forehead and glancing at Lucy on the bed, spoke into the phone, "Hi, I'm Cillian. Please tell your CEO that his wife had a car accident and she's now at the First People's Hospital. He should come right away." The woman on the line paused, thinking it was a prank call. She said sternly, "You've reached Leon Corporation's after-sales service. If you're making prank calls, could you pick someone else?" Cillian let out a sigh, wishing he had Matthew's number. He said in a firm voice, "Tell your CEO this message. I'm not asking for money, so you can be sure I'm not a scam. If you don't tell Mr. Leon, you'll be out of a job. Trust me on this. I picked up my phone. I opened my contact list. I found the number I had stored under a name that was not the name of the person it belonged to, a precaution I had maintained for two years because the person it belonged to was the kind of person whose number you did not want found on your phone if things went wrong. I looked at the number for a moment. Then I called. He answered on the third ring. "Ms. Hartwell," said the voice of a man who charged by the hour and delivered results without asking questions about their intended use. "I wasn't expecting to hear from you."

Gil's voice said instantly, " Why the hell aren't you here yet?" Sofia looked confused. She moved the telephone to her other ear and replied, " Um... This isn't Mrs. -" "I don't care what the f**k your name is. What type of hooker are you when you can't be on time?" Sofia felt insulted. Sydney asked who it was, " It's one of those prank callers Mrs.-" " Who the hell are you calling a prank caller?" Gil sounded urgent and angry. Sofia resisted the urge to end the call, but her work ethic taught her to give the callers a chance to express themselves no matter how insensitive they may come across.

"Carry her like a princess! Lock them in the dark room—don't come out for an hour! Hope you two finally make your dream come true!" Then some random girl chimed in, all snarky: "Who's 1874? Some insurance guy? Ugh, hang up." Click. End of call. Pain punched me in the chest. She saved me as '1874'—just the last four digits of my number. Meanwhile, my phone screen still flashed "Sweetheart." God, what a joke. I had work to finish, thought about staying late—but I couldn't focus. So I headed home.

If it weren't for me, Andy wouldn't have to sleep in parks or contract such a terrible illness… But then again, why was Andy hanging out with them?
