Everything around me began to blur and in an instant, I watched Arya vanish completely. My heart raced incredibly fast as I turned around. “Arya?” I tried claiming my breathing, hoping everything would go back to normal and Arya would be back here again but something invisible yanked me backward and air left my lungs as I was dragged through the darkness.

Arya POV The moment she stepped into the dining hall the most delicious mouth-watering scent filled her nose. She knew he was there, but she couldn’t see him. She wanted to follow the scent until she found him. She wanted to be brave. Instead of the broken woman she has been the past few years. She also didn’t want her mate to know how broken she truly was.

He is rigid and looks away from me. "Please don't push me away," I whisper, tears flooding my eyes. I hold his hands and wrap them around my waist. He still doesn't hold me. I put my hands around his face and make him look me in the eyes. His eyes are bloody red. "I am sorry," I say. He just gazes emotionlessly at me. "I am sorry, baby. Don't be like this," I say, tears running down my cheeks. "You have hurt me, Arya," his voice comes out hoarse.

His main concern was being rejected because of his looks. Though Wynter had put in efforts to groom him well, it had been so long that he had even forgotten how he looked in the first place. Two people could be considered blind in this situation: one, Shadrach, who was literally blind, and two, Wynter, who was blinded by her love for him, so physical appearance didn’t matter to her. But her family wasn’t blinded by anything; they would definitely want the best for their daughter, and he was sure he looked like a mess at that moment.

I was having cold feets for some reason. I walked into the room leaving the bodyguards stationed at the door, when I saw Arya lying on the bed. Her head was wrapped with bandages. I walked slowly towards her and sat beside her bed. I watch her sleep peacefully but even in her sleeping stage she flinches at the pains inflated on her body. Her pretty face and lips had bruises and her body as well. “They will pay for this baby”. I whispered as I clenched my fist from anger.
