I held onto Luna’s arm. Her fingers were ice-cold, and as my skin touched hers, a wave of guilt surged through my chest. I should’ve found her sooner. I shouldn’t have let any of this happen.
Kael poured the potion over the chains. A thin mist rose with a sharp hiss, like burning flesh. The scent of metal and magic mingled—acrid, nauseating. The chains slowly melted, the metal softening before crumbling into black ash.
