The moment I said hybrid, all six wolves started growling again, even louder. "Hybrid," the gray wolf said the word like it tasted bad. "You're an abomination." "Please," I said, stepping back slowly. "I just want to leave. I don't want to cause any problems." "You can't leave," the gray wolf said. "Hybrids are forbidden. You should have been killed when you were born." "But I wasn't killed," I said. "And I'm not hurting anybody." "Your existence hurts everybody," said a female wolf as she changed to human form. "Hybrids bring nothing but trouble wherever they go."

I cried out this time, clutching my head to stop the pain. I was certain I heard the Alpha's wolf speaking, which was a new experience for me, and I wasn't sure why it was happening. As I closed my eyes in front of him, attempting to block out the voice, someone grabbed me from behind and held me tight. I didn't resist or try to break free from their grip.
