Its bark was blackened but unbroken; the only change inflicted on the book and tree was that they were pure black since then.

The tree was a freak of nature in this wasteland, its long, sweeping branches forming a curtain of silver-grey leaves that scraped against the parched earth. The left branch suddenly grasps a raccoon hiding from a tree with its humanoid fingers, and the raccoon keeps on wiggling from the branch’s grasp. Niffa was terrified when the tree gobbled up the raccoon’s body as its blood splattered on
