Frowning, I flip through the pages and notice it’s is filled with gruesome details of how to hunt werewolves, how to kill them, and how to torture them. I glance up at Lucian, arching my brow. "Why would your parents have a book about werewolf hunters?" I ask, thumbing through more of the horrifying pages. Lucian lifts his head briefly to look at me, then lowers it back down to the stack of papers he’s sifting through.

The woman came to a stop and glanced back at her with a slight tilt of her head, "Surprised still?" "Let's say I am, how do you know about the Hunters?" Amira asked carefully, her hands patted down her sides and silently cursed herself from coming unprepared. The woman's shoulders dropped for a moment as she turned to face Amira, "Who do you think the Hunters took after?" She raised a brow at her. Amira rocked her brain for anything she heard based on the history of the original Hunters, but nothing came to her. The woman looked displeased as she crossed her arms over her chest, "And you call yourself a Haddock."

A man on foot had broken free of his hiding spot and was gunning it after us, running at an impossible speed. I didn't need to see the light sucking black surrounding his pupils, annihilating the whites of his eyes to know what he was. I could tell by the way his arms jerked as he bounded towards us, closing the gap between hunter and prey. I slipped my gun from the holster strapped to my thigh and let off three rounds the same instant the front tire ran a hole, jarring my shots and sending them wide. "Keep it steady!"

I breathed hard, dragging my body up as I crawled forward on all fours like a fucking dog. I didn't stop, didn't even look back, not even when the air around me stiffened. The hunters knew that they were getting close. They crept forward, their weapons at the ready, until they caught sight of Tate standing in a clearing, his massive form silhouetted against the moonlit sky. Without hesitation, the hunters opened fire, their silver bullets ripping through the air and striking Tate with deadly force. Tate came to realize at that moment that he had been on a bad path for so long and barely escaped from the hunters. It was something written here in the book. This book in particular was made by the first hunter Morozov and MY great grandfather.” He said, and she frowned in confusion. “The first hunter was a Morozov?”
