Alex pov. I ripped through the last of the hunters and when I saw Emanuel blur formed smelling Emi’s blood going into the woods. My demon whimpered as we followed them halting Emanuel from moving further. “Don’t touch her..” Emanuel says and I growled threateningly “Do you think she will be ready to find out about you.” He snapped and I pause mid-growl looking at her bleeding out.

I looked at Hunter from head to toe, “You seemed really different. I’m not used to you wishing me well, Hunter.” He narrowed his eyes on me without saying anything. I shrugged my shoulders and turned my back on him. Hannah was the one driving the car with Amelia in the passenger seat, while Irina was between me and Ember. As we drove away from the mansion, I couldn't help but to lean my head on Irina. “Hmm?” Irina hummed and leaned her head on me as well. “I’m just about to do the most stupid and smartest thing I know,” I whispered to her and I let everyone’s eyes on me. “But it's gonna be worth it.”

“Now tell us why that tattooed fucker wanted you to help him kill my wife.” Emilio's eyes drifted to me, and I barely resisted a flinch. Strangely, Emilio had no genuine hatred in his eyes. He didn't look like someone who would have danced on my grave. If anything, I was irrelevant to him. “Don't look at her,” Hunter growled, and Emilio's eyes snapped back to him. “Do that again and I'll dig your eyes out.” The slight shudder I felt wasn't exactly appropriate given our circumstances, but a part of me enjoyed Hunter's savage kind of protectiveness. I had no doubt that Hunter meant what he said, and judging by the way Emilio cringed, he must have known that too.
