Theodore Quiason Signed by Iliaden Traits Academy Headmaster Josefano Hermanos I immediately tore up the letter and burned it. I’m not going to that freaking school anymore. And yes not even my father - the council president would urge me. What went through his mind and he wanted me to go to that school? That school is not just a stupid classy school, they train their students and then they send them on missions - deadly missions. Those who side with the bad students of the academy will chase and good ... they will be killed.

I could start over, completely free from the suffocating ghosts of my past. The Academy was the best decision I could make for my survival and my sanity. Yet, honesty forced me to admit that it hurt deeply to see how easily Enzo had accepted it. He hadn't put up a single fight. He hadn't begged me to stay. Seeing him agree so quickly, so coldly, only proved what I already knew deep down in my soul—he didn't want me around anymore either. I was just a burden he was glad to be rid of.

When Dad learned I placed second on a practice college entrance exam, he shouted at me. "Second again? Can't you beat whoever came first?" "How did I end up with such a useless son?" I promised I'd take down the top student on the next exam. That night, I dreamed about the girl who came first. In the dream, I pushed her from the twenty-third floor. The sound of her hitting the ground made my stomach turn. I woke from the nightmare to a flood of messages in the class group chat. The first message made my blood run cold. [Zara Henson jumped from the twenty-third floor. She died on the spot.] [Zara's mother insists it wasn't suicide. She says someone pushed her.] [Can you hear the police sirens

My disguise had dissolved the moment I'd stood in that ballroom, and now I moved through the academy as exactly who I was — Kaia Blackwood, not Kai — every stare a small reminder that the life I'd carefully built was gone. "Ignore them," Elena said, walking beside me between classes, having stayed an extra day to make sure I wasn't navigating this alone. "They'll get bored eventually." "Will they? I'm apparently the last of a bloodline everyone thought was extinct. That's not the kind of thing people get bored of quickly." "Fair point." She bumped my shoulder gently. "For what it's worth, you're handling this better than I would." "I don't feel like I'm handling it at all."

“I don’t need you or your help.” He expected me to be grateful that he’d suddenly appeared to play hero. Even if Marlowe herself was on the verge of destroying me in this school, I would rather let her do it than accept help from him. He was a murderer. If the academy decided to clear his name because he was the hockey golden boy, I would still see him as a killer. I stood, dusting myself off. The moment I took a step forward, pain shot through my knee again. Students watched, silently entertained.

’ I ask her. ‘Yes, thank you for sharing that with me. Now, I have a question for you, work related. Do you know the names of the new recruits?’ ‘Which one?’ ‘Jory. I think his last name is Davis, but I’m not positive.’ I click to another screen and pull up the Academy’s roster. Jory Davis: deceased. ‘He’s the one your brother killed, right?’ ‘Yeah. Yorick said he wasn’t strong enough to be at the Academy and asked me to get more information on him.’

He managed to draw a laugh from me, and a tear fell. “Dad… what type of deal did you make?” He stepped closer. "The Alphas that make up the packs of this academy all have dark secrets. Aiden Sanders killed his brother to become Alpha. I have that over him, and he can never touch you.” Yet he blackmailed Kade anyway. “I should go. You’ll stay in touch, right?” He smiled. “You couldn’t keep me away.”

"What do you mean?" "Your brother died because of the omega student at the academy. Jason. His presence there, his connection to the lycan prince, his involvement in supernatural politics—it's made the school a battleground." I let that sink in before continuing. "How many more will die before the administration admits they've made a mistake?" "The school maintains strict neutrality—" "Neutrality?" I laugh coldly. "Dr. Thorne, your brother is dead because of decisions made in those hallowed halls. Because the academy chose to harbor someone who brings violence wherever he goes."

It was far from the depressing and suffocating atmosphere I had imagined. I spotted several other buildings with children yelling and running about. My heart thumped, and I placed my palm on it, letting out a breath as I gazed at the children. I felt a strong desire to partake in the activity going on, but I couldn't. It wasn't because I didn't want to, but I doubted they would let me. My name was Kelani Redwood, sixteen years old, and I found myself in this school, Mystic Academy, because I killed my father. This act triggered what was known as the 'Curse of the Lycanthropes,' though I barely understood what that meant.

"Your life will never be normal again." I froze. The atmosphere suddenly felt cold. The wind from outside gently blows through the kitchen window. And for some reason, a strange feeling arises in my chest again. As if something deep within me is awakening. My uncle finally left a few minutes later. I stood by the window watching him walk toward the forest alone. And again, without a trace of fear. The house felt much quieter after I immediately froze. My reflection in the window slowly lifted its head. And his eyes… Silver.
