Things didn't seem to get better when I looked over my shoulder, about to ask Cassian what just happened, and realised that he wasn't there as well. "I know damn well that I'm not losing my mind!" I said to myself confidently, trying to figure out what was happening. After barely a few seconds of silence, I heard it.

I had to rub my hands on my eyes to be sure that I was seeing right and when my eyes fluttered open, the man in a yellow raincoat was nowhere to be seen. Was I hallucinating?

I sighed and nodded, walking again as we both looked around for her friends. While walking, I went to hit a man, but my body came back, and I turned my head to look at him and apologize. As I turned, my gaze was captured by something, or rather someone, I froze and turned my head again to look back at where I had seen, but there was no one. I shook my head and kept walking. My mind was so treacherous that it made me see things that were not there, people that were not there, and made me imagine her. But I didn’t want to imagine her, I wanted her to disappear from my life completely.

By the time his eyes found the spot, the man was gone. "Did you see him?" I asked. "I see shadows everywhere," he admitted. "But maybe... maybe it's nothing." "It wasn't nothing. My heartbeat stopped for half a second. He noticed; of course, he noticed. Panic flickered through me before I crushed it down instantly. The man watched my reaction carefully. Interesting. That single word sat silently in his eyes. Then… A horn blared loudly somewhere down the street. I looked away for barely a second. And when my eyes snapped back… He was gone. My breath caught. The black vehicle remained parked at the curb, but the man himself had disappeared completely. Impossible. I spun quickly, scanning the street. There was nothing. No scent nearby, no movement either—just people walking normally beneath the afternoon sun.

But that won't happen anymore because they thought I was already dead. I closed my eyes and felt like someone was caressing my face when a cold wind blew across my face.
