I said and turned but stopped mid-speech, the women were gone, evaporated into thin hair, just like that, I panicked and began to search the whole study, underneath the table and all, but there’s no one there, it’s just me and Eli who stood by the doorway looking at the frenzy I was caught up in. “No, no, no, there’s just someone here, I swear Eli, someone was here just a few minutes ago, what the hell!” I half yelled as I ran my hand through my hair in frustration, but Eli just kept looking at me dumbfounded, he didn’t believe me, but I knew what I’d seen, maybe I couldn’t feel it, but I saw it and now, they’re gone.

Making up my mind, I head towards the door, pull at it and I'm out the door before I can second guess my decision. As I pressed my back to the door with my eyes shut, I felt someone's presence—not close to me, but enough to tell me someone's looking at me. When I snap my head to the side and look down the hallway, there's no one there. It's an empty space. But I could have sworn that there was someone there seconds ago. Have I started hallucinating already? My eyes dart around where I am, but there's no sign of Luciano. Where is he?

Their interaction didn’t look like a misunderstanding; it looked like a warning. As I observed them, a flicker of movement caught my eye, and my breath caught again. I asked, my tone shaky with panic. “See what?” my mom asked as she drove. “I just saw a strange man staring at me. It felt like he wanted my blood,” I trembled, which made my mom stop the car. We got out of the car, but strangely, I didn’t see the man who had stared at me like he was ready to devour me. “What strange man was staring at you?” my mom asked. “I saw him, Mom. He was standing right there, staring at me,” I replied, pointing to the exact spot where I had seen him. It was confusing how he had disappeared in just a few seconds.

Damian’s voice jolted me out of out staring contest. “Huh??” I asked as I turned my attention to him. “What were you staring at like that?” He asked as he turned to look out the window. “That man there has been staring at me.” I answered. “What man?” He asked as he roamed his eyeballs every where. “That man right….. wait, he is gone. He was just here.” I said when I couldn’t see the man anymore. “You sure someone was staring at you?” Damian asked as he turned to search for the man that had disappeared.

I stood there for a few seconds, my mouth hanging open, before the brain cells in my head began to work and I registered, I really actually saw him. I dashed to the front of the building to check if I could see any traces of him. , My breathing was erratic, my composure non existent, I was distressed and very confused but I kept searching and searching till after a few minutes when I finally accepted that he was nowhere to be found. He had disappeared, literally. It had to be a joke, right? It had to be some sort of mind play, I turned around in confusion. One moment he was there, and just before I could look he was gone. " I don't understand a thing of what the salesperson was explaining, so I spaced out at a point. I distracted myself with the things around. I was fascinated by the different kinds of technologies and gadgets I was seeing. Soon my attention was drawn to a man who was watching us at a not-so-close distance from the store, trying to be very reticent in his hiding. I was only able to notice him because of the mirror that was facing him at an angle. I turn to confirm if he was actually monitoring us. By the time I turned, he was nowhere to be found. I looked around but still couldn't locate him, giving me the illusion that I imagined seeing him.
