Icy iron chains locked around my wrists and ankles, fastening me to a stone pillar in the center of the cellar. The piercing cold surged up from the soles of my feet, spreading through my entire body, cutting through the thin maternity dress and drilling straight into my bones. The cellar was empty, filled only with the slow drip of melting ice and the uncontrollable chattering of my teeth. I curled in on myself, arms wrapped tightly around my belly, trying to warm the child inside with what little body heat I had left.

ZANE’S POV The rink was my sanctuary, the only place where the world’s noise dulled to a low hum. My skates carved the ice, each stride a desperate bid to outrun the chaos in my head. The Blizzard’s practice facility echoed with the sharp crack of pucks and the shouts of teammates, but I barely heard them. My mind was a storm—Lila Harper’s hazel eyes, her defiant mouth, the way she’d shuddered under me last night.

Jaxson’s large, warm hands slid up under the lapels of Liam’s navy jacket, his palms pressing flat against the frantic, hammering rhythm of Liam's ribs. "Twelve, Jaxson," Liam whispered, his voice a raspy, breathless shudder against the quiet of the corridor. "The ice is going to be incredibly heavy. The ruts in the corner entries will be deep. Nick said. After eating he went to sleep in Miranda's room. He found her in deep sleep. He took this chance and looked at her body. Her breast were full and round. Her black hair fell down on her neck. Her lips were sexy and her body was irresistible. He tucked some hair behind her ear, kissed her forehead and whispered " I am sorry Miranda." Then he fell asleep beside her.
