Break The Ice
Jade was paired with Eros and a girl named Grace, her huge glasses reminding me of the doctor’s warnings about my own spiral into blindness if I kept rejecting glasses.
I saw Jade narrow her gaze at Eros, who, instead of joining her, stood at another corner with Grace. Grace seemed flustered when the tall hunk took her book. Jade scrunched her nose in annoyance, gave Grace a faint smile, and turned away, eyes back on the podium.
Before long, the hall was divided into groups of three. Except for a few who weren’t pleased with their group assignments—and a few, like me, who hadn’t been assigned yet.
