"My therapist explained it. I was processing trauma through fantasy. None of it was real." "What if your therapist was wrong?" Lucien's voice was gentle but insistent. "What if what you experienced wasn't hallucination but awakening? The first stirring of ancient power in your bloodline?"

I ask. He shakes his head again. “You did nothing wrong Luciana,” he repeats. “I obviously did something otherwise she wouldn’t be sulking right now,” I grumble in annoyance. “She is not sulking,” Logan sighs. “She’s crying.” My eyes fly wide and I cringe. “She’s crying? Oh god I think I seriously freaked her out with the whole dream-walking thing.” “Someone who does not have pleasant dreams does not think lightly of the idea of someone else walking in them,” he tells me. “You of all people should understand that.”

EVE The nightmares started two weeks after I woke up. Not every night. Just often enough to disrupt everything. I'd dream of children dying while I stood frozen, unable to help. Or I'd dream of Circe dissolving into light, screaming my name. Or worst of all, I'd dream of Lucia lying in that medical bed, empty eyed and hollow, while I felt nothing. "You're having another one," Adam said the fourth time I woke up gasping. "Sorry. I didn't mean to wake you."

Tonight's dream was no different, only that it was scarier. What troubled him most was the timing. The nightmares had intensified ever since Stella had moved in with him. Lucian found himself grappling with these haunting visions more frequently. He had never told anyone about them, because whoever friends he had once told while they were in school had called him possessed, and ever since then he had never shared it with anyone. Lucian swung his legs over the edge of the bed, running a hand through his tousled hair. The room was quiet now, the only sound the soft hum of the city outside. He needed to clear his head, to make sense of what was happening to him.

Lucy As a demon, I don't dream often. Emotions are a blessing I've been given, and now, as I blink life into my eyes, I realize that I've been granted the experience of lucid dreaming. It seems I can't control what is happening or change from my insignificant dragon form. I'm rushing in darkness, darting between giant, ghostly trees. My mind is scattered and hunting for something in the unknown, and I don't stop until I pick up a voice.

“I think he is giving me bad dreams though” Lucien stayed quiet as I described my dream to him. When I was done he laughed, “maybe that is your conscious telling you to keep your ass in the house at night.” I shrugged, “laugh at me again and I won’t miss you at all.” Lucien paused, ” well in that case I guess I won’t stop by later.” I quickly opened my mouth to take my words back but he started talking again, “that’s what I thought.”
