He simply nodded, as if knowing this wasn’t the right moment to say anything more. But deep down, I knew this wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.

He said “I’m saying it anyway.” I stood at the booth and picked up my bag and looked at Ray Lionel across a hotel bar table and thought, this is the moment. Not the clinic, not the parking lot, not the midnight message or the 3AM floor. This moment, right here, where he said I know and I said I know and neither of us moved toward the door. Because there is a difference between a moment you fall into without deciding and a moment you stand in with full knowledge of what you are choosing. I knew exactly what I was choosing. I looked at Ray. He looked at me. And neither of us moved toward the door.

I could hear the screams right there . The heavy footsteps at my back make me stop ok my truck . I didn't need anyone to tell me who it was . I already knew it was him. I knew he was the one . The chills I felt at that moment was something that I just couldn't imagine at that moment . I Turned immediately and his dark eyes stared deep into my soul ,I could feel it . I knew that he was here .

Enough to scare me. And in that moment, I knew, absolutely convinced that whatever fragile balance I’d been living in had just come to an end.

He went still. "I already knew," I said. "Before tonight. I was I had already arrived at it, I just wasn't ready to say it out loud yet. I was using the time to get from knowing it to being able to say it." I looked at him steadily. "Tonight just moved the timeline."

the warning of the police as loud as it could get. He has been involved with the police on several occasions and he knew what would become of him if he surrendered. He knew he had no time left before things he get messy. "You have one minute to come out!" they warned again. "You wish" he chuckled to himself as he proceeded to continue with his plan.

His lips flattened, and he narrowed his eyes. I knew then and there that I was dead meat. Worst part? I didn’t know what I did.

This was not that. It was not managed and it was not careful. It was not the kiss of a man making a decision about how much to give. It was just him, present, entirely, the same person who had crouched down to my level at a border in the dark and let me look for the lie in his face and had not flinched when I looked, because there was no lie to find. I had known, somewhere very deep, since that moment. I had spent weeks not letting myself know that I knew.

And for the first time in a long time, everything felt right. Little did I know, this was the moment everything was about to change…again.

That was when I knew it wasn’t a dream, wasn’t a trick of the light or some fading fantasy. And the moment that truth registered, my body gave out. Everything went black.
