He was sitting in a state of absolute, rigid focus. Both of his small hands were pressed perfectly flat against the flagstones.

“I already finished the fries, Nikki.” Jeremiah clears his throat. “Don’t do that, Jace.” Jeremiah is Jace’s older brother by eleven months. The two of them look alike, and sometimes people mistake them for twins with their similar curly brown hair. Jeremiah’s green eyes also differs from Jace’s brown ones.
