Elowen snapped. “I solve it by keeping you alive,” Corvin said. Elowen stepped closer, heat rising in his chest. “Alive where? In your rooms? In your sight? Or under your command?” Corvin’s jaw tightened. “Under my protection.” Elowen shook his head. “You dress it in softer words, but it is still a cage.” Corvin’s gaze did not waver. “A cage keeps predators out.” “And traps animals inside,” Elowen shot back.

Jack's Pov I clenched my jaw tightly as i watch Zach walked out of the ruin house with Miller. I sat quietly in the car with Han staring as Zach entered his car and drove away. My cellphone rang out at that moment and i picked it up. " Yeah? " I answered calmly. It was Zach, i have been to him earlier and had told him about Mike plans to kill Jill if i didn't sign any documents. " The boys are not much. They are four in numbers but right now i saw a dangerous man in there. I think he just arrived, he must be the one dad sent to kill Jilly. "

He grabbed my wrist and screamed, "Chris is using you! Once you're drained dry, he'll throw you back onto the streets! Are you really going to debase yourself as another man's plaything just to spite me?" A loud slap echoed in the parking lot. I broke free from his grasp and slapped him across his face. Scarpa clutched his cheek. He was stunned, as if he couldn't believe I had struck him. "You want to know what I really want? Fine. I'll tell you." I stepped closer, my voice brushing his ear. "I was the one who moved the shipment that vanished at the docks five years ago." He froze. "Then, I left a trail so the Feds would chase shadows."

It pained me to my bones that Jace had to betray my trust. "How far with Jahi?" I questioned, sliding my door open before walking inside. I tossed myself into the bed, waiting for a response. "She is indeed working as an undercover, and it has been happening for quite awhile. The only thing stopping us from bringing her down is the fact that she is the only one who will be leading us to enemies." He reported firmly, and I gave a nod, understanding the trap my father tried to set. "What about my prisoners?" I inquired, smirking evilly because, immediately after Lilith wakes up, I want her to meet them. "I'm in for some type of family drama."

This stupid movement provokes an immediate, brutal response as his heavy palm swings around to deliver a cruel, bone-cracking slap straight across my face. The sheer force of the blow clears the lingering fog of concussion dizziness from my brain, forcing the stark, terrifying reality of my plight to become crystal clear. My mind had initially orchestrated this exact kidnapping fate to trap Chika, but now it appears my own flesh is going to suffer the exact same execution. Will my wolf also be sold into the dark underground slave rings? This horrific realization plunges my entire spirit into a deep, bottomless despair, and I break down into a flood of pathetic tears.

I move to the door and lock it with the bolt first then raise the latch over it before hooking back the chain connecting the door to the wall. I walk back and disconnect some wires from the television and soon it is a fizzling box. I’m more comfortable with this meaningless sound. I pick a book, ‘’ The Caucasian chalk’’ and sit beside the stool. So many times, I have compared this story to the story of the two women in the holy book who slept side by side with their babies. One of the women wakes in the middle of the night and finds her baby dead. She then goes ahead to swap her dead baby with her neighbour's sleeping baby. The case gets to the king and the king declares that the living baby

It was a tracker. I dug deeper into the bag and found a children's storybook, ‘The Hunting Game.’ I skimmed through the pages, there no words on them only colored pictures but what I thought was a story for children was actually a morbid depiction of the game. I had to find the bird before the wolves do or they would eat its heart. There were other characters in the book like the doctor, the police, and the civilians. In total there were twenty-four of them excluding the bird, the same number we were. There were no rules written in the book only the vague riddle at the end. ‘He who has the bird has the power.’ And the warning from the voice, ‘don’t tell anyone about your role.’ My head ached

But the size was bigger than that of birds and seemed to be ¾ size of its body. “Oh it’s a monster?” Darrion looked at its dangling feet in curiosity. “What kind of monster are you, little one?” Jai blinked, feeling slightly curious too. “What does your handbook say?” Darrion opened the handbook of monsters but after searching it for a few seconds, he didn’t find anything. “Huh, weird. This monster is not in the book.” “It has bird like feet, could it be the chicks from the birds we encountered before?” Jai asked him, referring to the poisonous bird they had ever encountered after crossing the swamp.

HAZEL’S POV The cold evening breeze hit my skin, flipping the pages of the book I held in my hand. In the middle of the flowers and trees, I felt at peace. This place, was indeed my sanctuary. I flipped back the pages and began to read through the book Celeste had given me. It was a story about a bird, that wanted freedom from his family, but suffered the consequences for being rebellious. It had a very terrible end, but it was rather enjoyable.
