He ran a hand through his messy brown hair, eyeing me with interest. “Literature. I taught eighth grade English.” I leaned back against the cushions, smiling soberly to myself. “I planned on introducing my class to Jane Austen this fall, right now actually. We were going to read Sense and Sensibility first. It’s my favorite of her works. Just from the synopsis I remembered reading, could I compare myself and the handsome boy in front of me to Elizabeth Bennet and the wealthy Mr. Darcy? Maybe reading it would be enlightening and since it was already on my reading list at home, I could also check that book off. She brought out stacks of copies and placed them at the start of each row, asking that they be handed back. When I turned to the kitchen to make breakfast, I noticed a big parcel wrapped in a red ribbon with a note, I know you always wanted this edition. I hope you like it. P.S. Breakfast is on the pan. E A smile lit up my face as I tugged off the red ribbon and opened the gift paper to reveal a beautiful hardcover of one of my favorite authors, Jane Austen. It was The Complete Novels of Jane Austen in lilac purple leather-bound hardcover. The book was heavy, but I was in utter awe at its beauty and the intricate design on the front cover. I loved it. I adored it, and I knew if I could, I would keep this edition on a pedestal.
