Uncle Joe is the real villain behind Dad's story. He has always been against Dad, harboring a deep-seated hatred for nearly everything Dad has or does. It feels as if he’s an enemy rather than a brother, and I struggle to comprehend the irrational animosity he holds toward Dad. Dad has been nothing but kind and genuine to him, yet Uncle Joe only seems focused on bringing Dad down, creating chaos in his life at every turn.

Gio put on a teasing look, “Don’t be so sad my friends, we will see each other again.” “Sad? Ugh,” John replied with fake distaste. “I can’t wait to get away from you.” he pointed to Gio and shook his head, “You’re so clingy.” Gio laughed and threw his sweaty towel that sat beside him, at John. An hour later, my dad sauntered into the room. “Hey kids,” greeted my father. He had dark bags underneath his eyes and looked like he hadn’t gotten any sleep-in days. “Hey Mr. Bandit.” Replied Gio and John.

John Blac, Sapphire's dad, smiled back at his wife. “And we could have fire live with us. I'd be the happiest dad ever, wifey! I'd be so fulfilled. Having a son-in-law is like having a real son, you know.” John smiled at the thought. He and his wife seemed happy together. It's what they've always wanted for their daughter.

“John, this is your son, Zachary. Zach, this is your father.” I couldn’t believe what she was telling me. This man is my dad..? After a few minutes of shock, John embraced me with a brief hug, and we spoke while mom made him some coffee. He explained how he got back in touch with my mom and he wanted to meet me since he first found out he had a son.

I still don't see what. "I'm getting to it; it's not easy sharing this because it can cause a lot of people to get hurt if my dad's identity gets out." "Okay, I'll bite; who is your dad?" "Hayden St. John." "Hay...the senator Hayden St. John? You do know he's black, right?" She just looked up at me, and fuck if I didn't see it.

Noah peeked through the door gingerly and bellowed, "What did you call me?" "JB, Junior Bruce Lee. Uncle John used to call you this when you were little, didn't he?" I said and he looked bewildered. Uncle John used to tell me the tales of Noah and never once did he call his son by his name. He always referred to him as JB and therefore I was clueless when I first met Noah. Hearing the tales of Noah from his father during my preteen years, somewhere in my mind, I already liked Noah before I even met him.

"Jake, your dad wants you." "My dad?" He laughs and stares at me. "My dad..." "Jake, come on." "Come on, what, Ruby? Why are you with him again?" "Because they wouldn't pass on the message or let him in. So he came to mine to ask me to get you." He laughs and nods. "Ironic." "Jake, your dad is worried for you." Standing, he laughs. "He didn't look worried in the videos." What? I stared at him confused. "Why were you in that place tonight? Why was my dad there?"

"Kenneth, are you trying to steal her from me?" Kenneth nodded. "Uriah, I already spoke to you about my son earlier. His heart still lingers with her; that's why he refuses to come home." "As for Abby," he continued, referring to his daughter, "she lacks ambition and has no plans to marry. I can't hand over the Westin Group to her. My only hope now is John." He turned toward Sharon, forcing a rare trace of gentleness onto his usually stern face. "Sharon, is it? I'm John's biological father. I heard you two grew up together, like family. Since you're family to him, you're family to us. You're welcome to call me 'Dad,' just like John does…"

Mama asks ma taking her hands into hers. "That piece of shit is the leader" ma says in a angry tone. Everything went silent until Nick,Kiah and Mika walks in with the same expression as ma. "Who?"Mama asks eying them all. "Josh Black" they replied together looking dazed. I can't believe this my father is a gang leader. No wonder he has so much money.
