Forever Jude
Jude is sitting down while holding Eden so Rico can get a good look too, and they’ve been staring for a long time.
“He looks like you,” Jude says to me.
I disagree. The little guy looks like a photo of baby Jude I saw tucked at the bottom of a drawer in his childhood bedroom. Which is mind boggling because he has my dark curly hair and brown eyes.
“He has your eyes,” he adds.
It must be the eyes that have him in a trance. They are big, brown, and a picture of pure innocence.
“He is so tiny,” Rico breathes, awed. He has been waiting excitedly to become an older brother. It was a relief for Jude and I, since we were worried he might feel overlooked at the arrival of a newborn.
