The garden was colorful with various and vibrant green, yellow, lavender, orange, peach, pink and read flowers blooming everywhere. It was spring so all the plants were shinning and healthy. The flowers looked like tiny hooded monks bowing in the wind. I ran. Kaelen heard my boots hitting the frozen earth. He roared. He launched himself after me. I reached the flowers. I fell to my knees. I ripped a handful of the purple stalks from the ground.

As much as I hated to admit it, I was going to have to make another batch (smaller this time) and work on winging myself off again. I walked over to the cabinets under my sink and pulled out the usual suspects. I had everything that I needed to make a good sized batch of the purple, which was a part of why it had been so hard for me to quit. Everything that you would possibly need to make some boost was sold at the local street market. I had the cleaning supplies, the water, and the cooking equipment. “We don’t want them to topple when the merchants arrive.” Kaia was helping her set up a stall filled with dried herbs and medicinal concoctions. Each vial was carefully labeled, their contents varying from bright green leaves to dark, earthy powders. “Do you think they will like the new tea blend?” Kaia asked, holding up a jar filled with a fragrant mix of dried hibiscus and other local flowers. “They always do,” Tehani replied with a reassuring smile. “Our herbs are sought after every year.”
