“Kane...” CRASH!!

Kane, now understanding the gesture, timidly shook her hand. “I'm Kane Silver.” Ignis smiled, revealing a sparkle in her eyes. “Beautiful name, Kane. Are you traveling with your family?” Kane nodded, easing up a bit with Ignis's welcoming presence. “Yes, I'm with my older brothers, Cassian and Dorian.” Ignis nodded in understanding. “Must be a challenging journey for you. Where are you headed?” Kane nodded. “Yes, we're heading to Seattle.”

Kane cited. "Okay, if you believe so. But it seems that we have to be on the go now. We can talk as we move. Blenda is done packing. And besides, congratulations on finding your lifemate. You have no idea how relieved I am." Dobah mentioned with a smile, and Kane nodded, his eyes darting to the ring on his finger, even as his mind was consumed with thoughts about his lifemate, Lucille. Because of her, he had seen colors in the dream. He couldn't wait to find her. But first, they had to locate his stubborn nephew and his best friend, Freya.

Kane’s POV Kane stood in the center of the war room, surrounded by the remnants of the Rogue King’s legacy - notes, maps, and cryptic journals strewn across the long table. The room was dimly lit, the flickering light of torches casting shadows that danced along the stone walls. The air was thick with tension, the scent of fear and determination mingling as Kane’s warriors stood silent, waiting for him to speak.

“And what is the Alpha’s state, Liam? Rumors are spreading faster than we can control them. We need to know the truth.” Liam hesitated, his jaw tightening. He didn’t want to admit the full extent of Kane’s deterioration, not to the council, and certainly not to the pack. But the truth was undeniable. Kane was wasting away, his grief over Layla consuming him from the inside out. “He’s alive,” Liam said at last, his voice low but steady. “But he’s... unwell. The loss of Layla has hit him harder than any of us could have imagined.” In his chambers, Kane lay in bed, his once powerful frame now gaunt and weak.

“My Mate died when we lived in Los Angeles. I couldn’t bear to stay there after his death. Too many memories you see. So that’s why we decided to move here to Chicago.” Kane sighs heavily. “I’m sorry for your loss. I don’t know how you have the will to go on.” He turns me to look into his now brown eyes. “I know I’d die in a world without My Keya.” He quietly confesses, a sad and serious frown on his handsome face. He slowly caresses my lips. They quiver as I shiver involuntarily. Man, I still can’t believe how crazy this guy is about me. I mean like, we’ve been together for a week. And he can’t live without me? Whoa!

"If you're willing to help me raise them, of course you'll get them." "I'll take good care of them," Kane said, patting his chest. "I'm a grown man now, and Grandad says I'm reliable." Tristan flicked Kane's forehead gently. "A grown man wouldn't be afraid of needles, would he?" Kane's face fell. "That has nothing to do with maturity, Uncle Tristan!" Everyone laughed at Kane's remark. After Regina and Atlas married, just a week later, Jason and Renee brought Kane to live with them at their vacation home in Italy.

He gestured to the miserable state of our cave. "You are going to die out here," Kane stated bluntly. "Or worse. He will capture you again. And this time he won't make the mistake of leaving you alive." "We will fight," I said. "You will lose," Kane said. "Look at your mate. He is broken. He is poisoned. He can barely stand." Kael snarled. "I will rip your throat out." Kane laughed. "In your prime maybe. But right now? I could snap you like a twig."

Melody visibly flinched and moved behind Todd a little. Tyler ignored her, and turned back to Katherine with an angry look. "What about your dad? Your brother? What are they doing that is so vital?" "Well, dad's in the den watching an old football game and I think Todd was.. reading." Katherine said, her voice getting a little smaller with each word. She wasn't stupid. She obviously knew where he was going with this. "So you're cooking a massive Thanksgiving dinner for six people all of which are perfectly healthy and not doing anything important by yourself? Why, may I ask?"

She took two beers and gave one to me. “It’s really not bad here,” she said, twisting off the cap. “As long as you keep your nose down and your brain in check, most people survive.” “Most people?” She shrugged. “Some don’t.” Before I could ask her to clarify, I spotted Keane staring at me from across the fire. He was sitting on a large boulder, a bottle of beer in one hand as he watched through narrowed eyes. I couldn’t read the expression on his face, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to. What was going through his mind?
