Eleven: The King Awakens EIRA It’s been two days, and Cassian is yet to wake up. I stare at the cuts on his naked torso, and sigh. At least they were healing gradually, and I was happy about that. “Momma,” Kael squeals as he bounces into the house with a large smile. My eyes widen in surprise to find him here. “Shush,” I hiss. “Come here, pup.” I pick him up and place him on my legs.

Zara's POV A warm, feather-light touch swept across my face, dragging me from the depths of sleep. My eyes fluttered open, and the first thing I saw was Cassius—his hand still hovering near my cheek. For a moment, neither of us spoke. His eyes locked onto mine, dark and unreadable, as if he hadn’t expected me to wake up just yet. The air between us felt charged, thick with something I didn’t quite understand. Then, his expression shifted—his usual arrogance snapping back into place like a mask.

Don't judge. The 'king' had lifted me up and sat me down on the water bed. I wiggled my bum and smiled lightly. The 'king' was kneeling in front of me inspecting my toe. It feels so good- the bed, of course. Duhh... I still wonder, though, why Kane and Kay called him 'king'. I mean, I'm pretty sure he isn't the king of America, 'cause we don't have a king. Smart, Kasey. Really smart. Maybe he's some kind of leader from a nerd group and they call him 'king'. And that explains the castle? Shit, no. You're right. I'm always right. Shut up, ho.

He styled his raven-black, silky straight hair messily. My eyes were studying his face when he grabbed my arm, pushed me to the side, and took the unbroken part of the glass vase from my hand. “You could seriously hurt yourself with all that sharp glass,” he said. “Who are you?” I asked. He smiled with a closed mouth. “I am your incubus, Desmond, Cassidy. You expressed your wish to see me yesterday, so here I am. Look all you want.” My mouth was about to touch the floor with all the shock. I lost my ability to react until I remembered Becky had a spare key to my apartment. A spirit didn’t have a physical form. Those idiots were messing with me!

10 minutes later I finally slip my sleep shorts on and let out a heavy sigh – with the wounds that he had left on me , it was really difficult to change. I walk out of the wash room and find him no where to be seen – with a smile on my face , I start making my way to the balcony. With my eyes fixated on what is beyond the balcony , I do not realise the presence that is already on our balcony. I place my elbows on the banister and rest my chin on my hands , I smile like a fool in love while looking at the stables. “ Was it pregnant?” I jump up in surprise , and therefore slipping on my weakened ankle. The king quickly comes to my rescue and catches me before I could hit the ground.

When I opened my eyes, the white ceiling stood flat and plain above me. I sighed in relief when Cayden placed a kiss on my cheek with his little puckered lips and ran out of my room. The kid is growing faster but too lean for his age. When I entered the kitchen, a delicious smell hit my nostrils. The sight of burritos lying on a plate caught me. As much as my life doesn't allow me to have a fresh start, Sasha will somehow find a way. "What is with that blank face? I made your favorite burritos. Smile." She ordered.

Tonight, it felt abandoned. I could still see a small light still glowing under Professor Kasnic's office door. He was awake. I knocked. "Come in." he said. I stepped inside. Books covered every wall from floor to ceiling. There were ancient scrolls in neat stacks across several table. Professor Kasnic sat behind his desk with a book open before him,. He looked up the moment I entered. His expression didn't change. It was almost as if he had expected me. "Darren," he said quietly. "I was wondering how long it would take."

How did I get so lucky? I feed them with formula I find in the empty kitchen, a better brand than the kind I was using. Once they’re both sleeping soundly, I tiptoe out of the room and to find Cassius. His study is empty, and his bedroom door is wide open, but when I peek inside, ignoring a little thrill at the sight of his broad king-size bed, and all the thoughts that provokes about the things he could do to me in that bed, it’s empty.

Curious, I opened it and began flipping through it, but I couldn't understand the strange language that I was seeing. The script was elegant but alien, with curling symbols, and sharp angles which was nothing like any alphabet I recognized. Frustration mounted as I turned page after page and just then the door was pushed open. I turned around sharply with the book still in my hands as Kael strode in, his expression shifting from calm to thunderous in an instant. He ran up to me, grabbed the book from my hand with more force than necessary, and snapped. “What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you looking through my things?”

I responded and followed her to her room. I followed Kasy to her room and found her bed unmade. She handed me the sheets and blanket and asked me to lay them on the bed. I didn't want to do it, but I thought it would be better to keep an eye on her. As I was tucking the sheets under the mattress, I couldn't help but look around her room. It was small but neat, and there wasn't much to see except for a small nightstand with a lamp and a few books. It was an empty room before and she had to occupy it. I didn’t see anything in the room but I still had my doubts.
