Even Kieran’s grip loosened a fraction—surprised.
The Hollow King’s silver eyes widened, delighted. “Yes,” he murmured. “That’s your voice.”
My copy’s face tightened with rage. “Stop teaching her,” she snapped.
I ripped my arm free and stumbled away from the throne.
The ash at my feet finally responded—still heavy, but mine—rising in a tight spiral around my calves like armor.
Kieran surged forward.
I snapped my hand out and spoke again, sharper:
“BACK.”
Ash slammed into Kieran’s chest, forcing him back two steps. He grunted, coal eyes flashing with irritation.
