“You want sympathy?” His laugh was sharp, brutal. “I wouldn’t waste a drop of pity on something like you. And love?” He stepped in closer, towering. “Don’t flatter yourself. I wouldn’t love you if the world was ending. I would sooner choke on my own blood than feel anything for you.”
He glanced back at the food with disgust curdling in his lip.
“Manang,” he snapped without looking away from me, “get rid of this trash. Feed it to the dogs or burn it—I don’t give a damn. I don’t want anything touched by her anywhere in my house.”
