Three wizards raised their hands, purple webs spinning like spider nests. “Mira!” I shouted. Mira raised both palms, drawing a circle of resistance. A silver shield bloomed, enveloping the ritual like thin glass. Tavien followed from behind, throwing pulsating rune nails. “Destroy!” I charged. The silver sword at my waist finally revealed its true power. It struck the ground in a sweeping motion. The circle broke just as Mira spun the shield into a counterpressure. The purple web shattered, the three witches rolled backward in the wave. The fourth mortar came like a small meteor, locking the center of the circle and melting the symbol into mud.

Symbols covered every inch, complex patterns I didn't recognize. And around the perimeter, corrupted wolves patrolled. At least thirty of them, their black eyes scanning constantly. "Can't get much closer without being spotted," Mira whispered. "Don't need to," I said, pulling out the small crystal Seraphina had given us. "This should capture the ritual's magical signature. We can analyze it back at Silverthorne." I activated the crystal, pointing it toward the circle. It glowed softly as it absorbed information. Then everything went to hell.

But slowly, carefully, they began to believe. And once they believed, they flourished. The man stared deeply into my eyes. “His blood is your blood.” He turned to Daire “Her blood is your blood” He picked the goblet up and poured the remainder of the liquid on to both of us. “You. Are. Krvna.” The Man Hunched over again The chanting started up again. The liquid started to seep into my skin. It moved to the place that Daire had cut me. It danced on my skin healing the wound. As the wound healed a symbol started to form. A blood red bow with frayed tassels was all that remained. The bow around us slipped away. I could move again. Daire scooped me up into his arms. I hugged him back tightly.

Unstoppable. I channel otherworld energy. Miguel's essence. The ring's amplification. Everything I have. My mark glows bright. Silver light pouring from me. The creature hesitates. Like the Eclipse power actually affects it. "Keep it up!" Sienna shouts. "Your light is hurting it!" I push harder. More power. More light. The creature roars. Backing away. Wounded by pure Eclipse energy. But then I feel it. Someone else's magic. Flowing into the creature. Healing it. Strengthening it.

Perhaps the strongest still alive.” She snapped her book shut and came closer. “His magic isn’t like ordinary water elementals. He can use mist to hide auras, illusions, even distort certain movements in time.” My throat tightened. “That’s… why he seems to disappear?” “Yes,” Siphora replied. “A sorcerer like him is slippery. Impossible to find unless he wants to be found.”

Chrysalis’s POV My eyes got big and began to choke on the water I’d just tried to use to wash my food down. “Oops.” Mizuki said, patting me on the back. Once I was able to speak I asked her, “What the hell? What if someone heard you?” She waved her hand as if to say it was alright. “No one heard. I made sure before speaking. I casted a soundproof spell.” she said excitedly. I shook my head before drinking some more water. She waited until I was done before speaking again.
