“You betrayed her! How could you?” Gonzalo snarled in response, his playful demeanor gone. “You don’t understand, Caleb! You never did! Lia was mine—she was always meant to be mine!” The words stung Caleb like a thousand needles, but he refused to let them weaken him. He fought harder, his strength fueled by a deep well of grief and fury. Then, to Caleb’s shock, Gonzalo began to transform.
