Chapter 52 – The Move The morning light should have brought relief. It didn’t. The pale glow creeping through the blinds only revealed how drained they all looked, faces sharp with exhaustion, eyes shadowed from a night without rest. Abby sat on the couch, Ivy leaning against her shoulder, small and trembling despite the blanket wrapped around her. Abby stroked her hair in slow, soothing motions, though her own hands trembled.

As if fate was testing her, the light in the room suddenly flickered and went out plunging Daisy into darkness, she fumbled for her phone, and with a sigh of dismay she noticed that it was already past eight in the evening, Daisy regained her composure and dashed to the closed door, knocking, hoping that someone would hear and come to her rescue. Her suffocating sense of being trapped had grown stronger, and her racing heartbeat mirrored her growing anxiety. The storage room's walls seemed to close in on her, heightening her anxiety. Daisy's screams and constant banging on the door echoed through the storage room.

I told her as I observed her features more. She was dressed in a tight long black gown. Her shoulder length blonde hair was neatly straightened and not a single hair was out of sight. She had a thin nose and her big lips were painted deep red. She wasn't even that pretty, but she looked rich. "You shouldn't be in this room. You should leave now! The restroom is just down there." She said rudely as her sharp brown eyes scanned me from up to down, then again and again. I walked towards her but missed a step as my left leg buckled with the right one. I fell hard on the cold floor.

“I just got a new perfume. Can you help me test the scent? I want an honest opinion.” MaryJane nodded immediately, without hesitating she walked towards kyla. “Of course, ma’am.” Kyla extended her hand, the napkin between her fingers. MaryJane leaned in slightly, nose wrinkling as she inhaled. And then- Her eyes fluttered and her body wavered. She collapsed. Kyla caught her just in time, her arms bracing under the girl’s shoulders as she guided her limp body onto the bed. She moved quickly but without fear, adjusting the maid’s position so her breathing wouldn’t be obstructed.
