Ruby’s scream rattled through her throat, her face contorting with horror as she witnessed his transformation. He dropped to his knees, then sagged forward onto his fists as his bones bent into impossible angles until they met their resistance, then snapped and contorted until his skeletal system had taken on another form. She watched with wide-eyed terror as his skin rippled and erupted with fur, his hands and feet formed paws, and claws protruded from his flesh, replacing his nails. His facial features morphed and elongated to form a snout, and saliva-coated canines pushed through his gums. The harsh cries that tore through his throat deepened into animalistic growls. Now she believed it.

the young woman explained. Olivia moved forward to take a closer look at one of the books displayed inside a showcase. It was an old book and it looked soiled. The cover of the book showed several small circles, each one depicting a form of metamorphosis. One of them particularly caught her attention. It showed a humanoid creature morphing step by step into something that looked like a phoenix. “One of these books might have an answer to where the dinosaurs actually came from,” Romos joked.

I can feel it trying to claw its way out of me. As Derrick’s mocking laugh resonates in my ears, I feel an inexplicable surge of energy coursing through my veins. My metamorphosis had already started. Deep down in my bones, I sensed a gradual but constant burn that was transforming me into someone else. Something strong. And before long, nothing could stop me—not King Sylvester, not Ryan, not this prison, nothing at all. I reclined on the bed, allowing the quiet to occupy the area where Ryan's presence had previously been felt. His words reverberated in my head, but they soon subsided as the gentle hum of the cell took centre stage.

It extended to her ear as it stretched up, out to the side of her head, it felt as if someone was dragging and pulling out every part of her body and putting them in a new form. "I can't do it!". She screamed and it sounded like an animalistic growl in her ear. She could clearly hear different voices in her ear, voices of the people who called her names and referred to her as nothing, ugly and useless. Those words strengthen her as she surpass through her transformation.

Per usual, sober-me had to deal with the consequences of drunk-me's choices. . . . Chrysalis. That was the word I repeated to myself whenever I felt like giving up... Whenever it felt like the world was kicking my ass (extra hard), leaving me black and blue, I solaced myself with the idea that I was in the midst of a painful transformative period. Like a caterpillar undergoing metamorphosis, molting over and over during its journey to become a colorful butterfly. Earlier today, I must've inwardly said the word upwards of a hundred times. My silent response to every demeaning remark that I'd heard while I was on set.
