I wanted answers. If only I knew where that good-for-nothing Mike was now. The thought of him made my blood boil. I clenched my fists so tightly that my nails dug into my skin. He was the last person seen with Sofia. He had walked out with her in broad daylight, like he had nothing to hide. And yet, we hadn’t found a single trace of him since then. Not a footprint. Not a scent trail. Nothing. The CCTV footage from the border had shown it clearly—**Mike walking out with Sofia** beside him, her head bowed, her hands behind her back. The image haunted me every night. It made me sick to my stomach.

Michael figured it was best to go ahead and get it over with. He left the bakery with her and they ended up walking to City Hall, much to Michael’s dismay. It was three blocks away, with last night’s snow piled in dirty clumps against the buildings. It was absolutely freezing outside! Couldn’t a car have been sent? Or couldn’t they have taken a taxi? And how was this lady seemingly completely unaffected in pantyhose and heels? Michael had to give her some respect for that.

I just stare at her for a second. Then another. Her expression slowly shifts from confusion to something else. Absolutely not. I turn before she can say anything else. Before she can ask another question. Before I can do something incredibly stupid like answer honestly. The path back to the clearing appears ahead of me. I start walking. A second later, I hear Michaela's incredulous voice behind me. "Carylon." I ignore her. "Carylon." My pace doesn't slow. "Are you seriously walking away?" "Yes."

Was it not too late to think about quitting mafia? He continued to weigh his and Michael’s abilities throughout the night. On the other side, Rafaele had excused himself after the dinner. He knew Michael would want to talk Riley before he leaves. He bid bye to Michael and said a vehicle is ready whenever he wishes to leave and sorry for not walking him out. Michael as simply glad that Rafaele was sensible enough to give him space with Riley. Michael walked out of the house while holding Riley’s hand. He stopped at the entrance and looked at her. She was silent the entire dinner and continued to do the same even now.

It was hard not to be affected by Michael’s charm, especially when he smiled like that. Mom started to clear the table. Michael opened his hand to me. I looked up at him. Did he want to hold hands? Now? “Your bag,” he said, wiggling his fingers. I handed over the bag. I had to get a grip. Michael was keeping everything professional, why couldn’t I force my mind in that direction too? Maybe it wasn’t just him that was the problem. After carefully making it down the stairs that spilled out onto the driveway, Michael held out his arm for me to walk up the small incline toward the street. A thin sheet of ice covered several spots on the black surface.

Before I could even utter a single word of protest, he easily lifted my light frame up and carried me straight on his back. I instinctively wrapped my arms tightly around his thick neck to keep from slipping, my chest pressing against his broad shoulders as his familiar, musky scent filled my nose. Michael marched out of his bedroom doors with heavy, powerful strides. The second we entered the main corridor, he handed the single wooden crutch over to one of his personal guards who was standing watch.

Just then, Atherden embraced Lillian and walked outside the restaurant. The main character walked away, so Rita and Oliver both also picked up their coats and followed them. When she brushed past Micheal, she clearly felt his temples popping, he was so angry it was as if he was going to stomp his feet. Rita smiled coldly, and her footsteps couldn't help but speed up. When she was about to cross Michael, her arm was fiercely stopped in place by a force. "You have 14 days left." Michael turned his head sideways and faintly reminded.

Michael ran faster than the speed of light, using the sound of gunshots and objects splintering to guide himself. He was shirtless and cold, but he would be damned if he was too late to get to Avery. For someone short on good food for more than forty eight hours, with his energy tank at an all time low, Michael gratefully banked on the residue of energy he had left.

My hands tucked away in my back, head lowered and facing the ground while I kept walking. I sincerely hope I don't get caught. ****** It's almost seven pm with nothing. I contacted Agent Michael through the burner, they haven't had any luck as well. I was circling back to meet with the men, it was time to head back to their homes, I wanted to check more, but my bones were aching, my knees were weak and I wanted to lay down more than anything.
