As I am about to speak, I hear a voice I recognise behind me. “Aimee, I don’t know you guys covered hospital news now”, Kyle says, and I roll my eyes and turn around looking at him. “Hi Kyle, I’m not here for work”, I say, and he frowns as I turn my attention back to the secretary. “I am his son's girlfriend”, I say, crossing all the fingers and toes that I can, hoping that she will believe my lie. I was at the bar playing dice games with a growing crowd of men. My companions, Alessandro and Angelo, circled me.
