Kaden looped his arm through my mom's and shot me a smug look. "Want to know the truth? Mom bought this house five years ago for me. She was just waiting for you to pay off the mortgage so she could transfer it to me. We're not here to ask. We're here to tell you." I looked at my mom in disbelief. "Is that true? Was this whole thing just you manipulating me from the start?"

Even though I kept in telling to stop the hype before I burst into laughter and have my hair ruined while rolling in laughter. Mom would only end up making a kame excuse or joke while I would only end up cracking up do to that. Her body stiffened for a moment. Then, her furrowed brows slowly relaxed, and a gentle smile spread across her face. She leaned down and kissed my cheek. "I love you, too, Meadow." Outside the door, the six brats were still chattering away. "What's up with Mom? She just blew up like that." "Who knows? Maybe it's menopause."

If I say something again, she might think I'm joking. I can't think of any corny jokes to tell her. Why did the pregnant woman cross the street? No, that's not good. I need to make her smile now. A hug. I lean in for an embrace, taking in her honey scent. "I know, Mother. I'm fine. It's just a wedding. You need to take care of yourself and the baby at all times. No stressing and overthinking!" Pulling back from the hug, my mom pinches both of my cheeks like she used to when I was a toddler. Her face lights up with a smile. "I will take good care of myself and the baby. You just need to be careful, okay?"

It was one of her comfort potions whenever she had dysmenorrhea, or whenever she was stressed. "Mom, you do realize that I'm already a family man now, right?" I said, "I guess so. He's usually so serious, it just looks weird seeing him laugh this hard." I said, "I'm going to get ready for school, mom. His wolf is full of dad jokes. I really don't want to hear them right now." Mom laughed and said, "Your wolf is like Yara. She can talk to other wolves?" I said, "Yeah, so is his. It's weird seeing him laugh like this.
