My best friend tells me, her voice trembling with worry. Quickly, I squeeze my eyes shut, tightening my grip on Cora's. I'm slowly losing my mind, unsure of what's going on. There are still students around, so how are we being attacked right now? Cora's back collides with mine, our fingers entwined. "What are those things?" I ask her. Her voice shakes when she speaks, her trembling fingers squeezing mine. "They are fearwraiths," Cora whispers. "Creatures that feeds on fear. The more terrified you are, the stronger it becomes. And when it takes enough fear from you... you fall into a coma. Then eventually..." Her breathing shudders, "...eternal sleep."

Phil was excited as he wanted to know what the contents of the mysterious pages were. Phil took the stack of bond paper and proceeded to read it while Samantha was beside him waiting to finish reading it. The paper talks about the things Phil needed, more information about the abyss, and the miasma. It talked about how the miasma is supposed to be the blood from a godlike creature imprisoned in the farthest depth of the abyss and how it corrupted its surroundings creating nightmarish creatures. Phil was a little disappointed at first because the information might be interesting it was no use for him right now until he read the third page.

It would fix me in an unblinking stare while its black lips curled into a sinister sneer. I would try to look away, but find I couldn’t move as a sense of dread washed over me. Then, as soon as it appeared it was gone, replaced by an image even more horrific, that of someone I loved dying a gruesome death while the creature’s high-pitched cackle sounded in my head. My father, my aunt, my mates, my friends. The victim changed every night but it always ended the same, with me waking up screaming with the all too real scent of blood still in my nostrils.
