I heard the rapid hum of her heart as she muttered how good I was in bed, making me down the glass of wine I'd been holding before walking over. How could I miss the hungry look that was casted by the boy beside her? One look from me and he immediately backed off. I could smell him, I knew what he was–a vampire, just like the rest of the Beaumont family. And just like me, they'd been amidst humans for as long as I could remember. When he left, I turned to Harriet, seeing her big blue eyes rest onto me, and the faint blush that had crept its way up her cheeks. It made something stir in my chest.
