The floor had been scrubbed and smoothed, scorched marks chiseled away or inlaid with pale marble. The old central glyph—crescent moon ringed by wolves—had been painstakingly restored. Around it, new runes had been etched, not in jagged, hungry strokes, but in neat, steady circles. Pact‑words. Promise‑words. Above us, the sky was a hard blue, banners from three packs snapping in the high breeze: Mooncrest’s silver crescent, Nightveil’s black raven, Bloodthorn’s red thorns without the snarling wolf’s head that had once glared from their standard.

I cock my head to the side, my eyes moving over the three moons at the top of the panel – references, obviously, to this world and the celestial bodies that are almost always visible in the dark sky. Beneath each moon is carved the vague figure of a young man. “This must be what Orion was talking about,” I murmur, stepping forward to trace my fingers over them, wanting to be closer to the story. “The three moons as…men?” “Yeah, whereas we only have one moon,” Anton says, stepping close to my side. “Which is ruled by the Goddess.” I nod, letting my eyes drift further down to the symbols carved beneath each of the male figures. Each arch shimmered with a different color. Blue, rippling like a river. Red, flickering like flame. Green, alive with curling vines and the smell of fresh soil. White, moving with invisible currents of air that made Luna’s skin prickle. At the center, where the Moonlight struck, lay a simple stone disc, etched with the crescent that had once burned itself into her skin. Luna’s breath caught. Her heart hammered. No one else stood with her. No Orion. No pack. No ancestors, visible at least.

Kane POV- “Ambush much? Rana, I told you, this my time with Alsie. You need to respect that.” I was in the bathroom inspecting this beautiful mark that had appeared on my neck, chest, back, and over my shoulder. Four wolves, a crescent moon, eye of Horus, the Sphinx, Great Pyramids, and a bat. The moon and the bat had a light blue outline, the Sphinx, and pyramids were outlined in gold. It was magnificent.

The door slamming in the distance snapped me from my restless slumber, snapping my head up, I caught a glimmer in the distance as they approached me. As my eyes follow his neck I find our mark sitting there like the most beautiful tattoo with its simplicity. The triple moon sits on our neck, the outlines clean and crisp. Inside the full moon sits two paw darkened paw prints. Three stars connected by thin lines rest above the full moon and waning crescent. Tracing the image I enjoy watching Damon shiver while I whisper, "it's beautiful."
